Start with the fuel pump - they like lube. Same for injector parts, valve guides, valve face sealing, and ring sealing. Any cleaning is a plus, as is better fuel burning characteristics.
Lucas is kinda high priced, but larger bottles are acceptable.
We may not feel a difference, but extra protection won't be felt.
+1
I have used seafoam ,lucas , tectron, krex, mmo, ether , acetone ,evinrude, and b-g fuel system cleaners for 20+ years. Million miles driven on many vehicles and not one fuel system problem, never changed a fuel filter , pump ,injector, etc.
I have never fouled a spark plug
I have found a 1+ mpg highway improvement on certain vehicles.
I do not use these products very often . maybe every 5-10 tank fills. I have 4-5 vehicles at any one time. Too expensive. I will use it in the first tank of a long trip combined with an oil change. I believe they work best on long highway trips. the oil changes May explain the mileage increase but sometimes it is without the oil change.
bought a quart bottle of lucas at an estate sale recently for .50 .
I use them mainly as an fuel line and injector cleaner with ucl being a secondary addition
If you do not believe the need for them ,then why do all motor companies such as Ford, Chrysler , g.m. , Evinrude, Honda , Harley , Yamaha , etc , etc, all sell their own versions and tell their technicians to use them.
I have a can of Evinrude fuel system cleaner i bought , that is from the 70's .It was sealed. I use it in my mowers. strong stuff but works great. There is a reason and a season for them . Used sparingly ,they are a great addition to a maintenance program.
