To his credit he kept a straight face and explained things to her. I did a facepalm and walked away.Did the guy laugh?

I’ve had people over that actually prefer the Makers Mark to Woodford, but you’re right, I have seen some reviews putting Makers down a bit in the bourbon world. I personally love it.Anything Woodford is a treat. Bourbon reviewers look down on Makers Mark but it is my favorite go to bourbon. If I want to treat myself, I'l go to Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Woodford or Four Roses single barrel. On the rocks.
Blantons is over rated to me, too expensive for what you get and extremely hard to purchase.
Get the Four Roses Single barrel. It's the only bourbon that I can taste some fruitiness.I'm just getting into bourbon, and I've added to my bar...Woodford Reserve (little harsh for me), Makers Mark 46 and Regular Makers Mark (love them both), Bulleit Rye (fantastic), Bulliet Bourbon (ok, kind of plain). IMO.
Looking to add Elijah Craig or Four Roses next. Would love to try Buffalo Trace, but I never can seem to find it. Open for other suggestions. I'm hearing Old Forrester is great for the money.
The empty bottle is worth money on eBay. Or he can put some other bourbon in it and tell people it the real deal. Kind of like a fake Rolex.hahaYep it’s hard to find. My son in law and I finished this bottle of 23 this past weekend
Yep, I told him about Ebay a few yrs back but he is not that kind of guy. As for refilling it, he won't do that and I don't blame him. Besides he has another unopened bottle. The empty bottle is worth money on eBay. Or he can put some other bourbon in it and tell people it the real deal. Kind of like a fake Rolex.haha
It’s one of the best.I'd love to try Eagle Rare. Can't find it anywhere around here.
How did he get 2 bottles of Pappy 23??Yep, I told him about Ebay a few yrs back but he is not that kind of guy. As for refilling it, he won't do that and I don't blame him. Besides he has another unopened bottle.
I must be getting lucky. Found the Eagle Rare the other day for $32.I'd love to try Eagle Rare. Can't find it anywhere around here.
just a note, later last year guy at a house party breaks out a Costco '6yr Canadian whiskey' claims it is relabeled Crown Royal @$18.99/1.5L, after tasting and a little DD I agreed, it was good..had a friend buy a case of it for me and now I don't think I'll repeat that purchase because the next day I feel seriously poisoned, being a Bourbon guy I don't have experience with Crown Royal maybe it's the same as this Costco swill maybe not but don't jump on cases til after you've tested it on yourself...I have a gallon or so left afraid to come back to it, sticking to Bourbon.
I've only ever had MM in mixed drinks. I'm tempted to pick up a bottle of MM 46 and try it straight.Bourbon reviewers look down on Makers Mark but it is my favorite go to bourbon.
I see that Jefferson’s stuff everywhere I go in liquor stores. I haven’t tried it. A friend of mine suggested it, but all the reviews I’ve seen have been negative (so thus far I’ve stayed away). Here is , to me a very intersting Company , a different type of processing to age Whiskey and their products....
Of course they sell on the higher end.... but are supposed to be available even at Walmarts. Probably one will be
my next purchase that will get "that look"from the wife when she sees another bottle on the shelf.

Well, I was super happy about finding that Buffalo Trace around here...until I opened it and tried it. I’m no expert but it seemed pretty bland (IMO). I made an old fashion and it just couldn’t cut through it. Added MORE bourbon, and nothing. I’ll have to try it neat or with some ice, but it was pretty non existent for me in a mix. Which is weird because some reviews said it had a decent percentage of rye and is at least 6 years old.I've found the Buffalo Trace 750ml at Sam's Club for $21.28 here in Vegas. Years ago I used to find the Balvenie Double Wood 12 year old Scotch for about the same price there, but now it's unobtanium.
While I still enjoy a good single malt, about 10 years ago I started changing my preference from Scotch to bourbon. Woodford Reserve and the premium Beam lines, Knob Creek, Bakers and Bookers, depending on what I could find on sale and stock up on. I'm down to one bottle of Bakers in my hoard, so lately it's been Buffalo Trace because of availability and price.
Based on the comments here, I've started my quest for Eagles Rare.
BT is too nice to be used in mixed drinks, LOL.Well, I was super happy about finding that Buffalo Trace around here...until I opened it and tried it. I’m no expert but it seemed pretty bland (IMO). I made an old fashion and it just couldn’t cut through it. Added MORE bourbon, and nothing.
