Lets talk about Bourbon

Buffalo Trace is always a good go to or gotta get up in price. Lol I guess I always like a bozey bourbon such as Wild Turkey101.
Yes, BT is one of my favorites. 1792 SB is another one. I am just on an exploration trail, trying to see what else I might like.

Found two more midgets to try

Larceny is Heaven Hill's wheated bourbon. Maker's Mark and WL Weller also replace rye in the mash bill with wheat. If you like either of those you ought to enjoy larceny (the booze, not the crime. LOL)

Just posting as FYI and YMMV in case anyone may be interested. My local Walmarts has Old Forester 1910 for $25 which is about half of what seems to be regular price compared to the other whiskey row bottles. I tried ordering through the app for curbside pickup and it came back as out of stock and the order got cancelled, but the app still showed in stock so went to the store and they had it locked in the cabinets. Got an employee to help open the cabinet and picked up a two, there were eight bottles in stock. I don't drink these but seemed like a good price to pickup to give as gifts.

I got a nice bottle of Woodford Reserve and it has become my new favorite bourbon in 2022. Thankfully I have multiple stores in my area that sell several different variations of Woodford and I'm probably going to be checking out throughout the year.

I'm just getting into bourbon, and I've added to my bar...Woodford Reserve (little harsh for me), Makers Mark 46 and Regular Makers Mark (love them both), Bulleit Rye (fantastic), Bulliet Bourbon (ok, kind of plain). IMO.

Looking to add Elijah Craig or Four Roses next. Would love to try Buffalo Trace, but I never can seem to find it. Open for other suggestions. I'm hearing Old Forrester is great for the money.

EC and 4R are both good, in my opinion, as is BT, of course. I didn't care for OF.
Another one I’m tempted to try is the Knob Creek. At first I didn’t want to try it but everything I’m reading (watching on YouTube) seems impressive. Not a fan of the bottle - and I know that shouldn’t be a thing - but when you have a bar, it kind of is (for some reason). I love that Buffalo Trace bottle.

Ended up buying a bottle of Elijah Craig. When I was standing there in the store a guy working there walked by me with a case of Eagle Rare, which I never heard of before, and suggested I try it. Decided against it because I had never seen or heard of it. He said it flies off the shelves, and it was $32 dollars a bottle. Made by Buffalo Trace.

Got home, read the reviews and wish I had listened to him. Although the Elijah Craig is really good for $28 bucks. IMO. Still wish I had grabbed that Eagle Rare because it’s selling for over $50 bucks in some places around the country.

I have tried all the low to mid priced Bourbons I could find.
I also have had a few of the higher priced boutique Bourbons.
Heres my take.
Low priced- Ancient Age. Pretty good for the price point.
Mid price- Jim Beam white label.I like it
Higher price- Jim Beam Black label. I think its as good as any Bourbon at any price.
Most unique- Evan Williams-Just tastes totally different from any other Bourbon.
Best Bourbon to clean your cars engine-Old Grand Dad. This stuff is just plain nasty.
Evan Williams Single barrel is very good and a good value. Used to be 10 yrs old but now about 7-8.

Eagle Rare is excellent and extremely hard to get.

I drink bourbon Fridays and Saturdays.

Woodford Reserve lately and Buffalo Trace when available.
Anything Woodford is a treat. Bourbon reviewers look down on Makers Mark but it is my favorite go to bourbon. If I want to treat myself, I'l go to Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Woodford or Four Roses single barrel. On the rocks.
Blantons is over rated to me, too expensive for what you get and extremely hard to purchase.

So, I'm in a local liquor store and this lady walks in and says "Pappy Van Winkle" like the employees are going to lead her right to it.

If I ever get a bottle I'll resell it. No Buffalo Trace made wheated bourbon is ever going to be worth over $100 a bottle.
Did the guy laugh?

Yep it’s hard to find. My son in law and I finished this bottle of 23 this past weekend
