Am I also understanding that the dealer and/or Nissan will buy it back at full value?

If so, it's basically a no harm/no foul situation. Sure, it's a hassle but that's life.

Am I the only one who caught that? Am I misunderstanding??
They didn't specify their version of full value. It could be excellent condition KBB trade in now or full purchase price then. They didn't specify

It certainly would be in your best interest to get the answer to what Nissan is willing to pay you to buy it back. If it is the full price you paid for it, I'd be on my way to the dealership yesterday! If it is less, you would at least be making an informed choice on how to proceed.

Yep, and if they do this it certainly neuters the "sting" of the story.

A full refund is a reversal of the transaction and return to "whole" for the injured party.

YES, it was a huge hassle but shtuff happens. Trying to claim "pain and suffering" is cranking the Karen factor to 11.

YES, it was a MAJOR manufacturing defect but C'MON MAN -- it's Nissan. Are we really surprised? Really??

Not sure about that, it took some prodding to get them to respond, at least as I understand it.

I don't think they would have offered a potential buyback without the thedrive attention.

OP has a right to complain and it's not fair he had to deal with this at all, but life isn't fair -- as cliche as that is.

I'd push for a full refund and never buy Nissan or use the Woodhouse dealer group ever again -- BIL be ****ed. That's punishment enough for Nissan and the dealer, but that's me -- doesn't mean I'm right.
 
Update: Sid Dillon Nissan called. They have spent the last 3 days taking my truck apart to do the frame swap and went to put it on the new frame and Nissan sent the wrong frame to them.
Not funny, but still funny. Never ceases to amaze me the incompetence over what should be simple things.
 
My 2000 Tundra had the frame replaced. I was amazed at how well done it was. The only thing that was messed up was the front end alignment. I had it redone to the specs from before the repairs and drove it for years! Yes, I expected creaking and tire wear but it really was done quite well!
I would have bought another but the size and cost went out of my realm of reality.

Toyota dealers had those frame swaps on the Tundra and Tacoma down to a science as they would do so many. This one off for OP's case is training day for them.

Good god. You'd think they'd be able to get the right frame given that they (should) easily be able to pull the necessary version of any part with just a vin number inputted into Nissans parts system. Definitely dump that truck on some other dealer lot once they give it back to you. Zero way I'd be keeping it now, the incompetence is through the roof over there, I have no faith in that truck being put back together right.

It was advertised as CPO with a warranty by the Nissan dealer. The CPO warranty was removed to buy it from my brother in law.

But that's not what you have been telling us in this entire thread.
A few things in the article and in Steve Lehto's video are a bit different than what you have told us here.

I am also sorry that the dealer received the wrong frame, causing your repair to be slowed down even more.

Again, at the end of the day, you bought a used truck. Just a straight up used truck.
Not even a used CPO truck, like you kept suggesting.

I really don't know why you felt that Nissan owed you a new truck to replace the used one that you bought, because of the frame defect.

Eventually you will get a new frame for your used truck.
I wish you well with whatever your plans are after you get the repaired truck back into your possession.

We would like to keep it if Nissan extends the warranty.
Otherwise we have a 2022 Ram picked out.

This should be fun.
 
What is the point of the CPO if you have to take it someone for a pre-purchase inspection? That is kind of the whole point for a CPO.

What sucks for the OP is that he bought it used. Had it been new, he could unwind it by lemon law, not so much with a used one.
Ok, I will play. How deep of a rabbit hole you want to go down?

If the manufacturer missed it and the dealership missed it, what is to say any so called independent inspection also misses it? Do we get another inspection to the inspection and so forth?

I get it, things get missed but we can play Captain Hindsight all day here when the reality is just about everybody takes the CPO on face value because the extended warranty that goes with it will cover such things.

Disingenuous to sit on a high horse critiquing people for what they should have done when most reasonable people would do the same.

All this talk about the vehicle being a CPO vehicle was just wasted energy this whole thread.

Yes, the PPI may not have directly found the frame issue, but maybe they would have noticed something funky with the steering during a test drive? You just never know.

Even Lehto pointed out what I've been saying: even on a checklist of 400 or 500 items, would this have been caught?

Of course, the true answer is MAYBE because it's speculation either way. But my position is that it's unlikely. My eye would be drawn to an obvious GAP in the frame -- but a hairline crack? Probably not.
