Ah yes, Clarence.Reminds me of Daktari. I couldn't watch that for long.
Ahh... The new Bronco, the only vehicle more unreliable than a Land Rover.
Not to mention overpricedAhh... The new Bronco, the only vehicle more unreliable than a Land Rover.
Love the Defender and LRs in general, have two of them. I just feel like the new Defender should've been the Discovery and they should've kept the Defender as something solid axle based like it used to be to better go against the Wrangler. But now it's more of a G wagen competitor.
But unfortunately, not for their main markets; the US and Europe...primarily the US, and more of a business case than the ability to design and produce. IIRC the need for airbags was the final nail in the classic Def's coffin, add to that LR, cost wise, just couldn't make sufficient margin on something as basic as the Jimmy, etc. I would have preferred to have seen the new Defender be more of what the Wrangler line is now, but I am not sure the economics are there. That said, having done LR's off road school the new Defender, it and heck the entire line are very capable.100% what I've been saying since they arrived. A vehicle so complicated shouldn't have been allowed to retain the Defender title.
I know LR said there was reasons behind it such as emissions, fuel economy etc. But Suzuki managed to come out with the Jimny around the same time and Ineos are making the Grenadier, so it is possible!

Yes, and to your point that would have been ideal...for us who own Rovers, old Rovers and Jeeps, but I would expect that live axles, etc., would not be what JLR's marketing folks would ever put forth into the premium segment. Unfortunately.I agree. Something like the Wrangler I think would've been ideal. Bring it into the 2020s with some of the comfort/safety tech, but keep the old school underpinnings. Jeep is getting $60-80k on most 4 door Wranglers that are loaded up, I see no reason LR couldn't have done a similar thing with
