L14610, ELEVEN K, NOT torn!!

Here's one from my brother's '02 Altima-he ran it 11K, all through the fairly nasty winter we had here, on Valvoline Durablend 5W30. I switched him to QSUD 5W30 & a Hastings/Casite filter that I had scored from RockAuto for a decent price-but apparently my concern was unwarranted! He does do about 99% highway driving-but it did sit outside every night & while at work. End cap did pop off when I cut it open, but the leaf spring was holding it together.

Large pleat spacing, but very small V-spacing. If those two pleats next to the seam had large V-spacing it probably would have torn.

The 4610/4612 seem to do very well. I think I'll be swapping my 4459 for one next time around.

14459s seem to be the most susceptible to tearing.

I've got a ton of 14459 and 14610 PureOnes from AAP for $3 each after rebates for our cars. I guess they really aren't worth the extra money versus the Classic.

I don't like those bent pleats and the huge spacing next to the metal pleat. The end caps usually fall off too.

I wasn't crazy about the pleat spacing either, but it held up surprisingly well considering the mileage. I have a few of these that were bought before the "Attack of the Tear-o-lator" issues began, still debating if it's OK to run them or if I should dump them.
