Hello Joseph,

Thank you very much I received both of your emails, You will receive an email from me by the end of the business day (PST) that will have the UPS shipping label attached. Please print the label off and then tape it to the box that you are shipping the filter back, you can call UPS to pick up the package or you can drop it off at your local UPS store. Please remember to place the oil filter in a plastic bag with paper towels and then place that bag in another bag to prevent leakage, please send a copy of your purchase receipt as well with the filter.

Best Regards,

Sent in 2 days ago, finally had the time to send it, see how quick it comes back, what I get in return (Just an oil filter, or maybe some K&N Swag?) Lol, didnt ask for a replacement in the first place, just informed them what happened, it wasent a big deal, no damage done, I noticed it when it happened. So yeah. Anyway, see how prompt my return is, it is being shipped to Cali

Got this in yesterday, but wasent home.
+1 to K&N for acting promptly and consumer friendly!

After this next OC in 5000 more miles, I will install this filter and Lucas 5w30 Conventional

K+N?
They sit on there rear ends while YOU have to provide shipping an oily filthy object, garner receipts and copies, any added costs, and serve it to them on a silver platter.
The part failed and a phone call or email picture should suffice to repay you.

Good customer service? No. Minimal.

I feel that K&N handled this issue OK. They were prompt and paid for return shipping and sent you a new filter. But had you not caught the leak in time and your engine was damaged I bet things would've been different. They'd probably claim filter damage was from excessive oil pressure due to a faulty oil pump pressure regulator.

They won't you to return this replacement after its used to see if they can find evidence of overpressure or overtightening or if it is a manufacturing defect.

Well, yes, since they couldn't determine this from the old filter, they don't know where in their assembly line to look for a problem, if there is one. The more samples they have to look at, the more likely they are to be able to determine whether it was user error or, if they need to examine their processes, where to look for their problem. It could also be that they find nothing on this second sample, either, and it was just a one time materials defect, which happens even with the best of processes.

I think they handled this quite well, enough that I might go back to using their filters. I used one on my Jeep and it clogged up rather quickly, so I stopped using them. Same happend on my Accord, so I only used the one K&N filter on that, as well. Neither of my Corollas have had a K&N filter due to this. It wasn't that the filters clogged, so much as the bypass didn't open and the filter material seemed to have collapsed. I didn't contact K&N about this in either case; now I'm thinking maybe I should have?

My initial thought was "oh, wow, these filter really well, it caught to much [censored] that it clogged up!" until I looked more closely at it.

Edit: Since when can we not use the "C" word for that is often used to refer to "stuff"?
Edit again: Or the 3 letter abbreviation for the stern version of "What the heck"?
