Couple of years ago, new vehicle. Told myself don't go with Pennzoil Ultra it will dry up on the Walmart shelves and it will become a [removed] to find the 5qt jugs (at any of the Walmarts).

Then I told myself, hey you can just order it online at walmart. Worked for a while now they are out! !#@$%!&## And I mean everywhere (at least he seven or so I have roamed).

Yea I know its out there for $40+ but heck with that (pep boys etc.). If Pennzoil can not keep this stuff on a major discount retailers shelves ( 5qt
I just cant muster the same love for Pennzoil's second string Platinum, don't know why (guess no boron).

What to do???? maybe back to Synpower, maybe try QS Ultimate never tried that before.

Anybody Else in the same boat?

Yeah, I bought 3 jugs from Walmart on Clearance over thanksgiving. Paid $11.6 per 5qt, after rebate.

Relax, the oil can be had for a reasonable price if you would like to continue running it.

I can't for the life of me figure out why an oil company would introduce a flagship product and have it end up being rare as hen's teeth.

I think it's taking a while now that they are switching over to the yellow bottles. Plus, I bet they make it rare so that it perceived as a better product, AMSoil affect.

Don't lose any sleep there are other good oils out there that work just as well.. I liked the ultra at one time also but i don't like the platinum... Try edge or Mobil 1 or even QSUD they will all do the same thing.
Although ultra seemed to be good oil it was priced off the shelves of just about everywhere..

Nothing wrong with Pennz Platinum, been using it since the beginning, Boron! hope your not losing any sleep over this

I order it online from WMT. Last order I placed was back in early December I think. I paid about $20 for a 5 qt. jug on a Rollback. If they have rebates at the time you can do even better. If you spent $50 it's shipped to the house free. If you like the oil and wanted to continue using it buy a one year supply at a time.

You can run seven different synthetic oils (one after the other) and your engine will still last 300K+, as long as you change that oil at the proper time. Putting different brands in regularly will not lessen engine life. I have multiple vehicle in the past as proof. You can even blend 2-3 different oils EVERY OIL CHANGE and it will still last 300K.

I've done it. What kills my vehicles is rust. Nobody need to stick to one brand, even if you are first & last owner (like me) of all your vehicles in the past.

Agreed,
I've been doing this since the 80's when I read all of David Vizard's books.(Horsepower with Economy?)

He stated that on the engine dyno, 1qt of Syn oil mixed with the rest dino oil made the whole batch act like it was synthetic.
Nothing about extended OCI's, But I've always ran ~5K on OCI's anyway.

I'd like to run PU, but it's a unicorn. Amazon has it via Prime but at $50 for a 5qt bottle. I'll stick to M1 that I can find almost anywhere. I don't understand Pennzoil's game plan.

Wondering the same thing. Been looking for the ultra at Walmart on line for almost a month now. Always out of stock. Was in a Walmart in New Hampshire yesterday and not a single Ultra to be had.Not even any empty space on the shelves where it may have been/

Depending on your locale, check for a SOPUS distributor. That's a bit problematic up here, since we have a weird distribution system, where most SOPUS distributors are only allowed to distribute Shell branded stuff (Rotella, Formula Shell, and so forth). A select few are also Pennzoil-Quaker State distributors. What can NAPA do for you where you are? That's one of the few helpful places here, if you're willing to buy an EcoBox, at least.

It's in half my motors now but I'm not chasing it anymore ...
M1, QSUD, Delvac, and MSS are on deck for next changes ...
