Once the warranty is over does it matter as much? HM means the factory warranty on the engine is probably long gone. What? Why?
Mobil1 EP HM is not dexos last time I lookedMobil has no issue paying for the Dexos logo on their regular (non-HM) oils, although licensing fees may be an issue, especially for smaller companies. Now that I think about it, many (most?) HM oils contain an additive pack that conflicts with Dexos requirements.
Pretty sure Dexos 1 is a General Motors requirement.Oh no it’s not Dexos 1 Gen3 Approved tho.. Will this be a problem for some ?
For warranty, yes. After that has expired, no.Pretty sure Dexos 1 is a General Motors requirement.
What does warranty have to do with it? Has a GM dealer, ever, denied a warranty claim due to oil?For warranty, yes. After that has expired, no.
HM oil is designed for engines with more than 75,000 miles, generally well after warranties have expired. Another reason why Dexos approvals are not too important for HM oils. A typical GM powertrain warranty is for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Yes, there are exceptions ...For warranty, yes. After that has expired, no.
Hang on. Let me check my data base of GM warranty claims since Dexos was launched and get back with you. Hold your breath until I return. What does warranty have to do with it? Has a GM dealer, ever, denied a warranty claim due to oil?
I'll be dead before you come back with any info showing warranty denied. Yet, you mentioned warranty more than once as reason to select an oil. Why?Hang on. Let me check my data base of GM warranty claims since Dexos was launched and get back with you. Hold your breath until I return.
Cause it matters to some people. Not everyone follows oil forum recommendations. You won’t ever go wrong following the manual.I'll be dead before you come back with any info showing warranty denied. Yet, you mentioned warranty more than once as reason to select an oil. Why?
I guess you never heard of Hyundai and Kia Theta 2 engines of 2012-2020 ....lolCause it matters to some people. Not everyone follows oil forum recommendations. You won’t ever go wrong following the manual.
Speaking of manuals, or on-vehicle maintenance minders, oil changes are commonly spread out to 10,000 mile intervals these days. Do you follow that too?Cause it matters to some people. Not everyone follows oil forum recommendations. You won’t ever go wrong following the manual.
No oil will overcome a bad design.I guess you never heard of Hyundai and Kia Theta 2 engines of 2012-2020 ....lol
The Korean manufacturer got those oil/viscosity recommendation selections wrong beyond belief.

No but my vehicles are classified under severe service based on operational conditions. Not applicable for my use.Speaking of manuals, or on-vehicle maintenance minders, oil changes are commonly spread out to 10,000 mile intervals these days. Do you follow that too?
Wrong answer. PM member Accent Abuser for the correct viscosity answer. No oil will overcome a bad design.
If a manufacturer cannot design the engine to operate with the oil they are recommending then I would call that a bad design. They know CAFE isn’t going anywhere. Adapt.Wrong answer. PM member Accent Abuser for the correct viscosity answer.
In case you are short on time, it's 0/5/10w40 full synthetic, instead of 5w20 synblend.
BTW.... the only trustworthy Warren Highline oil is the Supertech Advanced 20k version. Including it in a High Mileage version would be a smart oil producer move by them.
