Mobil has no issue paying for the Dexos logo on their regular (non-HM) oils, although licensing fees may be an issue, especially for smaller companies. Now that I think about it, many (most?) HM oils contain an additive pack that conflicts with Dexos requirements.
Mobil1 EP HM is not dexos last time I looked

Outside of the Jeep Ecodiesels I can’t think of anytime oil has been related to a failure. And the ecodiesels did it because people were running what the manufacturer suggested.

For warranty, yes. After that has expired, no.
HM oil is designed for engines with more than 75,000 miles, generally well after warranties have expired. Another reason why Dexos approvals are not too important for HM oils. A typical GM powertrain warranty is for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Yes, there are exceptions ...

Hang on. Let me check my data base of GM warranty claims since Dexos was launched and get back with you. Hold your breath until I return.
I'll be dead before you come back with any info showing warranty denied. Yet, you mentioned warranty more than once as reason to select an oil. Why?

Speaking of manuals, or on-vehicle maintenance minders, oil changes are commonly spread out to 10,000 mile intervals these days. Do you follow that too?

Usually the first and last owners of such new vehicles, do not opt for 10k intervals. They also usually lift the hood and check the oil volume on the dipstick every 500 miles or-so.

No oil will overcome a bad design.
Wrong answer. PM member Accent Abuser for the correct viscosity answer.
In case you are short on time, it's 0/5/10w40 full synthetic, instead of 5w20 synblend.

BTW.... the only trustworthy Warren Highline oil is the Supertech Advanced 20k version. Including it in a High Mileage version would be a smart oil producer move by them.

If a manufacturer cannot design the engine to operate with the oil they are recommending then I would call that a bad design. They know CAFE isn’t going anywhere. Adapt.

If a manufacturer recommends 87 and the engine is damaged from preignition you’d give them a pass on it? I know I wouldn’t. I say design with the standards in mind. Other industries have to do it too. This isn’t a new thing.
