Why doesn't Kirkland synthetic oil put a mileage rating on it?

The larger question is how does Costco market its products?
Its not there because its not important. They probably sell enough.

In my application it shears down in viscosity so I’m going in a different direction. Looks good in my son’s car though.

exactly, I view most of those mileage claims as Pure marketing wank.
I've never really understand the point of those companies putting any mileage at all on their packaging. 10k miles, 15k, 20k, etc - for what car, what driving conditions, and so on ?

Costco probably wants to be a little more on the up and up and not make mileage claims. They know it will work fantastic at the manufacturer recommended changes if it meets their spec.
I would lean toward this explanation. Years ago, I was active on a local NW based BMW Club forum and the automotive buyer for Costco was also active on it. I messaged him about their gas quality and why they weren't (at the time) "Top Tier". He said they met all the requirements, but Costco chose not to participate in the Top Tier program due to the costs for membership/licensing. They felt (at the time) the additonal costs they would have to pass on to the membership was not worth it. They, of course, changed their marketing strategy a few years later and are now Top Tier.

There are plenty of motor oils that don't give a mileage rating. Some of the best motor oils don't give a mileage rating. M1 FS Euro oils don't. Valvoline R&P doesn't. HPL doesn't. Is there anyone here who would shy away from any of these motor oils, because they don't claim to be good for 10,000, 20,000 miles, or even longer?

I prefer the ones without any rating. That way when I dump it at 5K I have no internal conflict.

Saw some in my store (Fort Worth) the other day - I had to do a double take.

Same here in SE Michigan on 13MR25 at Genesee County /Flint MI Costco. Costco had 5W-30 Kirkland Signature Synthetic in both standard and High Mileage. Both were $35.99 USD plus sales tax for a case of 2 5 Quart Jugs. I wish they would offer the 4 jug case for a small savings like they do on Costco.com for shiping to your location.

1965 F250 V8
10 mpg x 5 qt x 50 = 2,500 mi

2015 F250 Gas
15 mpg x 7 qt x 50 = 5,250 mi

So which one does this hypothetical milage statement apply to?
