Kia K900 oil choice?

Hi guys, long-time lurker, first-time joiner/poster to this forum. A little about myself: my father was a carpenter/mechanic (mostly motorcycle) by trade and I learned a bit about wrenching from him. Now that I've gotten a bit older (turn 50 next Feb.) I find myself relying on the local quickie lube stations when I don't have the time to get to a simple oil change when a service is due. I currently own a '12 Ram 1500 w/5.7 Hemi, a '16 Honda HRV w/1.8 and a '19 Kia K900 with a 3.3 twin turbo V6. The vehicle in question is the Kia when my wife brought it in for it's latest service.
It's my understanding that this Kia came from the factory with a 5w30 synthetic blend fill from the factory, more than likely a Citgo Supergard. Now, the past oil changes have been full synthetic, when my wife brought our vehicle in Valvoline did the a blend, in particular the High Mileage with Maxlife. Now, my question is, is this a suitable oil for an engine equipped with twin turbos, and two, do the techs know something I don't when choosing this particular oil for our applications? I've been running the full synthetic fills per the manual recommendation OCI's of 6k, but I'm not positive I'd run a blend that long. The manual calls for a recommendation of Total Quartz, but doesn't specify conventional, blend, or full synthetic. The vehicle holds 7.3 qts, which is quite a bit for an engine of it's size, and it lives a pretty easy life with typical shorter runs back and forth to work.
So, I guess my question is, is this oil suitable for this vehicle? Also, is this particular Valvoline a good oil and should I be considering it from here on out? Thanks

Welcome. Those K900s look really good. These guys are going to say run Mobil ESP 0w-30 or FS 0w-40.

Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5w30 is what you need. It is a badass oil that makes me wish I had a car that took 5w30. ESP 0w30/5w30 is another good one, as many here are a fan of.

Welcome! You don't know what you've done to yourself by coming out of the woodwork 😁.

How many miles on the K900? The HM Maxlife is a really solid oil IMHO, and in spite of it being a blend, will provide all the protection your car will need, and then some if it's got a lot of miles. I am currently on the 10W-40 red bottle in my 2010 Passat that is a known leaker. It has an HTHS of >4.0, which for a high strung turbo Euro engine is essential. Its a great hedge against the higher fuel dilution and stays in grade over my short OCI of 3-4Kish miles. 2 UOAs have confirmed that it has dealt with the fuel and my driving style well, hasn't allowed any unusual wear contamination, hasn't oxidized quickly, or indicated anything out of the ordinary relative to UOAs with specific, "full synthetic" Euro oils, ie; Castrol or Mobil 1 0W-40s. All with essentially no consumption/burn-off during the time in sump. Bonuses are that it's easy to get, not expensive, and has stopped all of the small leaks I haven't yet addressed by mechanical repair. I'd say you're in good shape using it.

It has 48k and 90% of the time it's taking short trips of under 10 miles one way.

Valvoline red bottle is most likely as good an oil or better than what you have previously run .
I would have no issues running it ! and used it myself on numerous vehicles with nary an issue.

I've typically stuck to the manual, which has it at 6k OCI's. Do you think there's any issue running a blend that long?

I change my wife's Accent at 3k.
personally I would not run any kia/hyundai past 5k.
maybe the newer gdi/mpfi engines will fair better ?

High capacity oil sump but with GDI and twin turbos I would run xW30 synthetic M1 ESP for a 4K mile / 6 month OCI 5W30 in the Hyundai 3.3L K9.

So, the more research I do on this oil, it really is a fantastic oil. I did find out through Kia though that since '22 they require all vehicles, that are still under warranty, to make the switch to a full synthetic because if there's engine damage related to oil they "could" void the warranty. I'll run this until the next change, if I still own the vehicle, and go with a full of some sort.

And how would they really know !
I would trust valvoline red bottle and changing it myself over what the dealer might be using .

I guess they'd require oil change records, if it came to Kia being on the hook to replace a motor or other major repair. I personally would think it would be hard to point the finger at Valvoline. I'm sure they'd have something to say about that.
