Customer called and said that the coupler that connects the inner and outer tie rod rusted through and broke on him - old plow truck, doesn't really go anywhere. Made the appointment, figured he'd tow it here.. I was wrong! He drove it the few miles from his place to the shop - city side streets and 2 lane County blacktop. It made it all the way to me, but broke on me when I pulled it in

I lost a tie rod end on one of our yard trucks and had both front wheels pointing to each other. The socket popped off the ball. Picked it up with a forklift and straightened the wheels, popped the socket over the ball and wrapped it with baling wire 2 directions and a big C clamp. Was able to drive it to the shop with no problem. Bear in mind this is a semi-truck style yard hostler truck.

Some clown working for a municipality made a similar half-azzed repair to one of their work trucks, and took it out on public roads. They were just trying to transport it to a HD truck shop. The repair failed, causing an accident that came inches from killing my mother. What's the cost of a tow compared to the loss of a life?

You sir are correct. 'Ole boy worked for the electric company for years, but grew up dirt poor on a farm. Still has some critters and a couple of pieces of equipment, probably because that's what he knows - nothing resembling a farm though. **** good customer.. Drops his junk off, wants it fixed right, doesn't ask about the cost and never complains about the bill.
