the truck is in great shape but i figured what the hay, ill see if it helps anything. the current fill is formula shell and it has around 1000 miles on it. when i checked the oil before adding the kreen(engine was cold) it was a little dark. then i added the kreen and ran it 30 mins and checked again (with it warm) and the oil looked new. kinda weird what do you guys think

here is a pic you can see its pretty clean in there i just wonder if the ring packs are dirty so i used kreen

If your engine is clean, the rings will be fine as well. Modern motor oils have a detergent pagkage to keep things clesn.

What are you expecting the Kreen to do?

just clean out any carbon that may or may not be on the ring pacs.
why would the oil get cleaner tho? thats weird

I think that was a smart move, Kreen is the real deal. Good preventative measure at 112K. good on ya. quite why the oil appeared to be cleaner, i dont know...let it run. I called the Kano Labs office and spoke to a very knowledgeable guy...they are happy to answer questions....Kreen and MMO are pretty much all i want to use for cleaning, apart from Amsoil!

Momma always said, "you can never be too clean".

I ran Kreen & MMO with some good cleaning going on in my Saturn.

Check out my "Amsoil Engine Flush Results" thread and you'll see the great results I saw with it, way more than the milder ones above. The Amsoil Flush is awesome for severely gunked up engines.

yeah i think 1 pint of kreen once a year is good preventive maintenance. ill probably do it every year. ill post some filter pics after the oci. so far every filter has been clean from the explorer. we will see what happens
its weird how the oil got cleaner, maybe the kreen took the soot out and its all in the filter now. idk maybe it was dirtier because it was cold and hadnt been started yet.

well i just changed the oil. with around 1000 miles since i added kreen and 2000 miles total the Formula shell came out black as night. the oil has not came out that dark since i started taking care of it so im pretty sure the kreen found some crud in there somewhere..

i plan on cutting the filter open tomorrow, just want to let it drain overnight first. ill post pics if i find anything interesting

I will be interesting to see what ended up in the filter.
Good stuff it seems for $11 and change.

Edit: Actually $5.50 when you only use 160z for the sump.

guys,,,I got 300k plus on my ancient lead sled, 2002 cargo van dodge v8, no kreen, just m1 or t6 and when Im in a mood 10 oz of mmo, its clean enough, still hauling freight. The engine is ok, its all the support stuff like plugs, rotor, wires, vacuum hoses , wheel bearing stuff, brakes that give me a rough time, so to speak, if ur changing ur oil at 7500 to 10k using a good oil, ur gonna be ok. My van is ancient technology compared to what many of u drive, Im just saying. But if it works for u,,what the heck.

congrats on the 300k. i have a friend with a dodge truck with 350k and still going strong. good vehicles if you take care of them!!

well guys sorry to say nothing to report here. i cut open the filter and only found really dark oil. there were a few black specs but nothing out of the ordinary. still the used oil was very dark for a 2k oci

Don't ever order a gallon order 4 qts the shipping of gal containers is high because of the hazardous goods over a qt regs.
I now buy 8 qts at a time and lots of other stuff and the shipping was reasonable.
