I’m in a similar situation. For my location and job I can get 10% more money by switching companies. On the other hand, if I pivot to a different title and study for certifications I can get 20% more elsewhere. So, I’m going for the 20%.

What's wrong with $200K per year? You're getting greedy my friend. You could easily have your retirement paid for in a few years at that amount.

Wise. My hat is off.

What's the tax liability? Is the raise on a salary? Is the raise performance based(bonus)? Because those are taxed at different rates.
Will you need to pay supplemental medical insurance because Company [censored] medical is mediocre? Then what are you left with?
Any chance of promotion at Company A?

Nothing wrong, just trying to plan out the next 2-4 years, that's all. As I said I'm OK where I am, but trying to see what is out there.

You are not getting retirement paid for in a few years with that. This is nonetheless a good middle class pay here.

Base is about 16k difference, the rest is stock and performance based bonus, I'd say reality difference is between 10-40% depends on performance and stock market. B's medical is industry standard, A is best in industry (imagine $10 copay for anything, no deductible, at the same cost of $350 a month for the whole family). Promotion in A would be impossible as more qualified people are already 1 level lower than me (because they have no where to go) other than inflation adjustment. Promotion in B would be hard but possible if I work hard for 3-4 years. I know that company and the people there, they are ranked and promoted fairly, and I know I'm not there yet.

Self employed here. As long as you work for someone else you are at their mercy for pay and benefits.

Some can do it, some of us cannot. I would never even consider it an option to go back to working for a "boss".

Whatever you decide is good for you, don't take too much "advice" from people, especially the envious ones!

My feeling, forget the difference in pay, after taxes its not that great for a move you are not sure about.

You need to figure out, what is more important to your happiness.

Its really that simple and sounds like you may know the answer.

Be good with your job and your life.

Take job that has less stress and aggravation.

$200K is very common for educated folks with 'in demand' skills.

I agree, but lots of big organizations have EXCELLENT benefits, perks, retirement, vacation time, paid holidays, flex time, floating holidays, OT, company car, ESOP, etc...

I know a retired millionaire Publix truck driver that drove for 32 years...

I too thought OP worked for the The Fruit company but I was not sure. If he does, then yes, stay put.

He said it's a private company, so it wouldn't be Apple.

More pay is good, but the title change to a better position is even more important. If you can't get that with your current company then I'd jump ship today.

There is a saying that it is better to marry an ugly woman who loves you rather than a beautiful woman who doesn't (or something like that).

Fruit company (D) and I broke up. Everyone else love me 50% more.

To the OP. If you have great insurance like you said, stay. The out of pocket cost per check and co pays can amount to close to what you gained in salary at the other place. Plus 14k after taxes in your tax bracket is equivalent to what, 9-10k after taxes doing quick math??

Only plus I see is the stock options, and an employee stock purchase plan if offered. Intel had a plan where you could buy shares at a 10% discount. I guess another plus is if the 401k match is the same, you would be putting more away and getting more of a match.

Who knows, good luck
