I didn't see this on ABC News Good Morning America, but the transcripts are hilarious:

Kerry did/didn't throw way his/someone elses medals/ribbons

Who cares if JF Kerry threw away his medals or not. Strange thing is, JF Kerry is doing a snow job for what reason? Is he ashamed to admit he really didn't throw away his medals? Did he throw away someone elses medals , or his own ribbons, or what? I think the Republicans can make a nice campaign ad from this latest JF Kerry inept doubletalk.

Oh I forgot, it's the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy that is at fault.

Keith.

Your are right! Kerry got off to a good start, but his "follow through" has shown him to be an inept, stupid rich guy who insults the intelligence of anyone who can see through the veneer. He has been getting bad advice. Hanoi Jane, the medals, the double speak, voting record and whatever additionally lies in store remain to be seen. What a joke of a politician!

Tec97, I know the entire story behind that quote, and the thinking behind it is just as obtuse as the quote itself sounds. Kerry voted against the 87 billion after his amendment to raise taxes was voted down.

That is a mischaracterization (predictable) - he voted against th 87 billion when the ammendment to fund said ammount by reducing Dub-ya's tax cut by the same amount was defeated.

Geez, how hard is that to understand - it's like saying to your wife, "well, sure I'll support us putting a new roof on the house, provided we pay for it out of the money we have set aside for a new car, but I sure as heck won't support putting the new roof on if we're just sticking it on our credit cards and builing more debt."

re Medals - personally I don't give a $hit. This is stuff that happened 30 years ago and I think if push came to shove, you'd find the only people that DO care are Republican partisans and talk-radio hosts.

Is this stuff really the best Republicans can come up with? Have you nothing to say about issues as they relate to the world today? **** , it may not matter; the American voting public is so stupid, medals and ribbons may be all it takes for Dub-ya to get a second term.

****, man, can't you come up w/ your own criticisims w/o having to pladgerize Rush?

A predictable mischaracterization? Not really. What about the comments on "Face the Nation"?The tax cuts have put our economy into the strong position that it is in. By the way, the economy is booming, anyone who says it isn't is smoking something I'd like to get my hands on. Unfortunately the Republicans are defending the economy instead of running on it.

As for the medals, I could care less about some medals, and I'm not attacking Kerrys status as a courageous vetran, but he needs to stop playing flipper on his history. Also, if I thought his service means much of anything I'd be proposing a world similar to that outlined in Heinlein's "Starship Troopers".

I'm so tired of hearing about everything anti-Bush, when nobody really has anything good to say about John Freaking Kerry. Can anybody help me understand his platform? Tec97, Tec 97, Tec97?

originally from mountravlr:

Ain't that the truth. And, if you were from Pittsburgh you'd understand how his wife's dead ex-husband, whom she inherited all of her money from, is rolling in his grave because of all of the despicable people she supports with his money.

I'm just sooooooooooooooo tired of hearing the flip flop. They call him flipper, flipper, flipper...

Tec97, I know the entire story behind that quote, and the thinking behind it is just as obtuse as the quote itself sounds. Kerry voted against the 87 billion after his amendment to raise taxes was voted down. However, he stated on "Face the Nation" that he would vote yea on the bill no matter what happened to his amendment. He said something along the lines of "voting against the bill would be deserting our troops". Please explain how understanding the backround behind this quote makes it any more viable as an intellegent comment.

Furthermore, the comments about the medals are disingenuous at best. First he says he threw the medals away, then he proudly displays them and say he threw away someone elses medals and finally he states that he threw away the ribbons to his medals and that at the time "ribbons and medals were interchangeable terms."

How about the SUV issue. First, in Detroit, he is bragging about owning a fleet of SUVs, then he is railing against them and when confronted with evidence of his ownership states "They are my family's SUVs."

There are many things I disagree with Bush about, but I always know exactly where he stands. I believe him when he says he will do something. I have no idea what Kerry wants or believes in. Nor can I accept his class struggle bull, or his critizism of Bush for removing steel tariffs that never should have existed in the first place. He proposes five different views on each issue, and at least three of those are complete B.S. designed to appeal to the uneducated masses who are only capable of thinking about their day to day living instead of what is good for the country as a whole.
