Jeans; what's your preference?

For me Rural King $9.99 jeans work fine. $11.99 if you want the carpenter jeans. I haven’t ripped or worn out a single pair. I got the first pair around 2017 and have just added more over time. They improved the belt loops on them too so they don’t break now. I want to buy Carhartt jeans but they are just so expensive. I have about 12 pairs of the Rural King jeans and jeans shorts and they are amazing and I’m picky on jeans because certain ones irritate in certain spots but the Rural King ones have been amazing.
You think Carhartt is expensive? Try Filson…

If you’re wearing them for work, then, you need to figure out how long they last vs. cost - the more expensive pair may, in fact, be more durable, and cost you less in the long run.

This pair of Filson pants is hard to wear out. I have a couple of pair. I have spilled acid on them, wear them working on cars, doing carpentry, etc. 8 years old, still going.

So, not saying you need Filson pants, just saying that better pants may end up cheaper in the long run because of durability.

I used to like Carhartt, but the fabric thickness dropped off recently and they don't wear as long. I've been leaning towards Levi 501 if I can get them on sale or Lee, with Wrangler being in the mix as well.

Current choice is Wrangler but over the years I've been a Levis guy and a Lee guy but the Wranglers seem to fit my 68 year old body better. A couple of purchases ago, I ordered a "stretchy" version of Wrangler by mistake and it turns out they are super comfortable and a lighter weight denim which is nice in the summer. Now, even when I put on a pair of regular jeans, they feel too constricting.

Exactly. They probably don't make for good work pants but they are excellent casual pants.

Wrangler relaxed. The extra room in the thigh makes pocket carry much more comfortable and more importantly makes getting the weapon out where I need it a tick easier.

Urban Star from Costco, always, till I discovered George from Walmart. Same stretchy goodness, more sizes in store.
I personally think those new stretchy (or flex or whatever they are called) jeans are a silent revolution, the next best thing after ventilated seats and heated steering wheel.

For my bibs and overalls - Tractor Supply
For toddlers - OshKosh b'gosh

I like them, too, though they do not last like a pair of Wranglers or Levis from my youth... and they do NOT like to go in a hot dryer as the elastic gets all stretched out if you do.

I'm fat so I rub through the insides of the legs on any jeans I have, within four to six months. So how long they will last would be mostly irrelevant to me.

What preference you fellas have for jeans these days.. brand and leg style?

I haven't worn jeans in probably 5 years now I've been up and down with my weight and being short/stocky it is hard to find a pair of jeans in my inseam without having to do the tailoring thing. Amazon has their own brand of jeans I could get in my waist and inseam, 34Wx28L and in athletic cut figuring I'll have a bit more thigh room.
I'm seeing a brand that I've never heard of pop up in YouTube ads called Duer I think. I don't think they're botique jeans but they look well made.

Lee fit the best.

What brand of jean was the cheapest you can recall? Blue denim jeans only. Super cheap painter's pants do not count.

ANSWER: $5.36 Blue Bell jeans at Two Guys (NJ based 'bargain' stores) were the least expensive.

Anyone born with the first three year numbers being 196 remember Sears Toughskins? My God, you simply could NOT kill these or wear them out. I remember them getting passed down throughout my neighborhood, and one pair went through 6 different kids. They'd probably make good bulletproof vest material 😁.

worn Levi's my entire life starting in my teens. The quality is bad today. On Sunday, my right thigh split open--it brought back childhood memories--that has never happened since then, and it did, in 2025.
