I just made my first Amsoil order. I got the SSO 30w and the EAO filter for my 2006 Honda Civic.

I plan on running it for the full year and most likely get a UOA around the 10k mark and see how it goes from there. Hopefully it all works out to my satisfaction.

I would def like to thank Paul for talking to me on the phone about it all and guiding me through the ordering process. Great guy to deal with.

1.8....eeh to be honest, no science to it on my part. Just read about the SSO on here and everyone seems happy with it regardless of whatever weight they were using before and Paul said I would be okay with either.

But you won't.... 8)

Why do you say that? I only drive about 15 to 17k a year. I think i should be okay.

He said it 'cause that's too long and too far to run any oil if you have a lot of short trips. .02.

Well they advertise 15k/1year severe duty, and 25k/1year normal duty. As i said, i'll perform a UOA and go from there. If it comes close to what Amsoil claims it will then I'll continue to purchase, if not...then i'll move on.

Best part about this is i had 50bucks in geico points on my Geico card. So this oil change really cost me $23. So not a big loss really.

Let's face it, there are few out there that are much above 15k-18k a year. They're out there, but they're exceptional. More are doing a bit less ..mostly due to being retired from the soccer mom/pop routine. The one year part is challenging to many, though and that's where you need a product buffered for it.

Just stirring the pot a bit. It all depends on how much your driving route and car contaminate the oil. I had rather dump the oil too soon than too late. Stir, stir.

Just make sure you do an analysis on the oil at regular intervals to find the sweet spot. I'd do UOA at 5K, 7.5K, and 10K miles.
I make a lot short < 3 mile trips. The 10W30 M1 is shot by 5K miles.

well I planned on doing one at 10k. Im sure the amsoil will last atleast that long.

My wife drives 20miles total a day to school. Then on the weekends we visit her or my family, which ranges from 25miles one way to 65miles. As i have said in my other threads this car does NOT get driven hard, barely ever sees over 2500rpms. I drive pretty conservatively. Which is why i can squeeze out 32 to 34mpg city driving.

I was going to do my 1 yr. OCI using the SSO, but i decided to use the ASM 0w20 in my Mazda6 because it speced the 20 wt. I read the Duratec in my car doesn't take too well with the thicker oil.
