The itch is there folks! I'll keep trying to hold off though, I'm going for 15% on the MM. Its been 7 months as of the 4th of this month since I last changed the oil, this is quite the record for me as I was a 3 month 3000 miles OCI kind of a guy. Thanks again BITOG for getting me this far, looking forward to the UOA.

Change it this fall or at 8K. Keep it topped off too!

Wait, you're in FL. I guess you don't have to change it in the fall before the snow flies!

It was hard for me also. I can barely stand waiting to the 7k mile mark with my RP!! Hang in there and stay strong!

Try 12k OCIs w a syn oil and good filter. No worries. Been doing to for years in my fleet for gas engines severe duty in town and idling. Always fine. Always go high miles.

Here you go Greg, you can do it!

Wow 7 months....just think of all of those microscopic metal shards ripping and grinding the tolerances out of your engine while you decided an extended oil change was worth the savings...hope you like blue smoke....

Waiting for 15% is perfect, that's right when the car alerts you every time you put the key in.

Imagine how hard it was for me last OCI, I went to -1600 miles on the MM, I had that thing flashing at me for the last 3 months!

This is me. I'm doing 4.5k now because i find some excuse, mainly like "I dont want to change it over the winter"

I keep telling myself i'm going to do 5k on mobil5k

Wow, nice!

Still surprised I don't feel bad I haven't changed my oil in my Cav in two years! (Itching now, even know the oil has less than 1.1k on it)

Pushed my Balt to almost 4 months, and the oil is at 37%....

Either I'm lazy, or trust BITOG....

I heard well over ten yrs ago about synthetics going 10k miles.. I was very surprised then at just how long they could go back then. In my 95 Sentra I would change it every 4 to 5k miles with Castrol syntec. In that car it used to be a noticeable difference after I changed it. When I got my Fusion I noticed there would be a change after 5k miles but no where near has noticeable. My Altima is even less noticeable than the Fusion was. But it is something I enjoy doing actually. Strange how when I was in my teens to early twenties I never did anything with taking care of my car. For the last 14 yrs I have taken far better care of my cars.

why not reset the OLM instead of listening to the dinger?

Hang in there Greg!

In the 80s I had an older car, and it was 2500 mile OCI. Moved to 3000 in the 90s, and 5000 in the early 2000s.

It wasn't until 2004 that I started driving a LOT each year (29k), found BITOG and got synthetic and some UOAs and found out the oil was just fine.

With UOA have gone as high as 12000 miles, you will be fine at 7 months!

(although truth be told, our in-town Wrangler is an exTREME short tripper and has around 5k and I'm getting the itch. Will probably take a sample soon but leave it in...at least till the results come back)

No one should jump into a 12K mile OCI without doing a UOA say at 8K miles and go from there.

Where is the OLM now and what is your mileage on the oil?

I finished my first 10k oci last week, with Pureplus, and am waiting for the uoa report.

You can do it!
