I am afraid this price may not last

Didn't you already buy PU 5w-40 from Amazon?

$7.5/qt? If it is a good oil that performs superiorly for your application, I guess it is OK. Those specialty euro name oils tend to be $$$.

Though total is trying for a presence here in the USA. I just got a Total polo shirt that I will wear proudly!

There's a Pep Girls black friday ad linked in the rebates section that lists Mobil 1 for $5/quart, limit 12 quarts. Nothing against Total, but I would gladly use M1 0w40 instead of Quartz 9000 in your application especially as TQ9k is 50% more expensive than M1's sale price.

Only $5 this year? It was $4 previously.

You can get it for $5.49 at many other stores throughout the year...

Regular price was $8.xx last year and it's $9.xx this year.

Is this a good price for an oil that probably meets the spec for your car?
You already know the answer to that.
You could try an inexpensive API spec oil on short drains that meets A3, as I've done with my old 4cyl BMW and also do the astonishingly good UOA I had for less money.
You could run sale GC or M1 0W-40 for less money.
You could also listen to the viscosity whisperer (Caterham) and run an API spec 5w30.
If the Total is what you really want to try, though, the price is reasonable when you look at the cost per mile over the course of an OCI.
If you really want to try it, why not?
You won't likely find it cheaper in the US and even if you do, this would not be an oil you've bought because it was cheap.
It's an oil you'll buy and run because you want to.
Nothing wrong with that.

Agreed. I know the Deutschewagon dealers love to pump this stuff, but it's a bit pricy for a G-III oil. At that price, I'd consider some alternatives . . . M1, or maybe GC.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have the proper approvals, but I would bet a donut that even T6 is just as robust as this TQ for significantly less.

As for the seller, that's a very good outfit. I've bought stuff for the old Audi from them before, and have had very good experiences with them.

And Mobil 1 isn't Group 3?

So? It's still cheaper and easier to obtain than TQ. And GC is a bona-fide Group IV oil last I checked.

He was stating that Quartz 9000 5W-40 doesn't worth the money for being a group 3 oil and being M1 at the same price outhere is a more reasonable choice, but I know that both oils are group 3 and he has Quartz 9000 5W-40 in a very attractive price, so I was wondering if both oils are group 3 and in the same price range why the [censored] the M1 would be a better choice, if both are available and M1 is not really better? I know that Quartz 9000 5W-40 is a very good oil, the same as M1, but the truth is that Castrol Edge is better than both (some group 4 and 5 involved in the blend), so if I had to choose between the three surely would go with Castrol.

Most German car owners in Germany would not use it even if was free. It's a French oil used mostly in Renaults that never last long enough for the owners to be concerned about the life their engine.
Top oil brands in Germany: Liqui Moly, Castrol, Mobil & Shell.
