Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5w40 lost LL01 approval

the SHU vs Motul, it should be similar but personally I prefer the SP additive package of the SHU quite a bit and Motul 8100 is just your average Group III anyway. I am assuming you won’t have the SP formula of the Motul yet but I could be wrong. The SN version of the Motul has similar looking VOA to this Total oil, coincidentally. I realize S58 doesn’t suffer from LSPI that we know of, but I prefer the newer additive packages personally just for peace of mind.
but at the end of the day final product is all that matters.and motul proves to be a very good product regardless of recipy and what group of oils is made of. its motul, they know what they are doing..one thing i can agree is the price, overpriced for sure, there helix wins big time.

Since I haven't received any other responses and I don't want to risk it I found the SHU 5w40 with the LL01 approval for a decent price and bought some jugs.

By chance, do you know the HTHS, Noack and TBN of this batch (June 21st, 2024)? Most recent datasheet I'm able to source is from 2022, I wonder if the formulation changed since then.

You got some old stock Quartz 9000, production date is stamped almost at the bottom.
New bottle with API SP has bmw LL01, I would use it anyway.

indeed..

but in the foto above ,from the OP, on the back of the bottle it states that it meets..there is a lot of mess in many companies, fuchs does that with supersyn longlife 5-40 and bmw ll01.there is on the site but not on the bottle..
and of course i dont forget motul and xcess gen 1 same case..
there is a lot of mess...

i havent used one yet,but from what i saw ,here at the south balkans ,its written made in eu..dont know after 2023 ,i havent search for one at the shelves.
but we still cant find any api sp here, only sn and sn plus..
a lot good oils are missing here at the south..at least , i found motul xcess gen 2 sp ,price 64 euros, when the usual more expensive 5-30 xclean + costs 54 euros. xclean gen 2 sp , costs 78 euros ..all 5 lt.. so not in all countries a 5-40 is cheaper.
And here I thought that going with reputable companies (Shell, Motul, Mobil, Castrol etc.) you're guaranteed to know what you buy, but apparently it's not always the case.

The pricing of Motul Xcess gen2 5w40 is not as bad over here, a 5l jug costs 36€ (so 7,2€/l), the Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5w40 costs 23€ (23/5=4,6€/l) and the SHU 5w40 is 22€ for the 4l jug (so 5,5€/l).
