Is there any amsoil bypass vs frantz TP bypass

IKeep thinking 63 I put a Frantz on a 64 Rambler American flat head 6. It came with a spin on bypass filter with steel oil lines To clean the oil it went into the trash and I installed a Frantz. Didnt find out about the Motor Guard for a couple more years. Toilet paper fit the Frantz in those days.
I just cut two elements from the VIVA Signature Cloth paper towels. You dont need hard rolled toilet paper. The soft 2 ply is just as good at cleaning oil but hard to deal with. The VIVA towels are strong enough that they wont pinch in the Motor Guard gasket if you cut them 4 1/4 diameter by 4 1/2. Inch. The same as the Motor Guard factory elements. I also glued the last sheet. Canadians should be able to find similar towels. Dont know what Gulf Coast filters uses now. When I sold them they used Bounty big roll paper towels. They claim 99 percent at under 1 micron. Oil travels down thru two 11inch elements . 22 inches is a lot of media. Some of the big diesel filters use about 3 inches of pulverized newspapers.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree, from what I have read, LSI has their own tp filter particle counts as well as the decades of Frantz's particle counts, paper density is the most important thing here, their studies say that after 2000 miles the particle count starts to creep up due to small micro channels that form between the plys, the oil starts to follow the micro channels through the roll, soft paper will begin to channel much sooner, yes soft paper will clean oil, but it won't last as long as "hard rolled" paper.

Im from the 60s when all we had was 2ply and loose wound 1 ply. On the big Gulf Coast filters we used Bounty big roll paper towels. The big Luberfiner 750s and Cummins Fleetguard 750s
Use pulverized newspapers. Thats as soft as you can get. When all we had was soft 2 ply it was great. When they came out with the hard rolls. The soft 2 ply wasnt so good any more Ive been hearing about channeling for years. Never had channeling problems. Frantz had AeroFrantzs all over the place using 2 ply. Actually the VIVA signature Cloth isnt soft. Its hard to compress.

After 20 years of running on clean oil with 2 ply with no oil changes. I bought a 4 pack of Frantz elements. On the package it said if you are still using toilet paper change your oil. That was about 1985. Hadnt seen them before. They are all the same. When they start making their own elements watch out using regular toilet paper it channels. Not sure what Gulf Coast filters use now when I did diesels they used Bounty big rolls.one trucker said he uses Costco towels. Not sure what it is I have an old Gulf Coast junior element Its harder than Scott 1000 and its 2 ply. Probably from a janitorial supply .

Those are some pretty big filters you are talking about there with pulverized newspapers, you can't compare that to a toilet paper filter.

I know there was one member here years ago, think he has a you tube video, he had a lot of contamination in a Mercedes diesel, he tried cut down blue shop towel in his Frantz, he did a particle test wich did not provide positive results he was looking for, he went back to toilet paper, last thing he did was run a Frantz synthetic element, no particle test but did say it worked the best and the grit was out of the oil.

You are probably right but the oil in my diesel tractor feels slick and looks clean. The flat head Ford canister filter has a 4 1/2 inch diameter by 5 1/2 inch VIVA Signature cloth filter in it. I origionally set it up for a full roll ofScott 1000.

I like the Jackmaster. I probably wont use their elements. Wont use the Frantz elements. The VIVA Signature cloth has the look and feel of the blue shop towels. I was looking for the guy on YouTube that was using a miter box to cut the blue shop towels. Seems like he was sending samples to a lab. He was a Frantz guy. The paper I put in the tractor is hard to compress. I barely got the towels in the Jackmaster had to tuck the 4 1/2 tall element in around the edges. I think the filters work better with the orifice at the inlet or even better with no orifice and a 2 port sandwich adapter.

I was just thinking. I did a fleet of mostly Ford Powerstrokes. Bolted Gulf Coast O1s to the frames. Some are going on Cummins powered pickups. When I was doing diesels Gulf Coast filters used Bounty big roll paper towels. Some truckers used Kirkland from Costco. If 11 inches of towels can handle a Powerstroke. It should be a piece of cake for 5 1/2 inches of towels to handle a small 3 cylinder diesel or my gasoline engines or the riding lawn mowers.

Good information from the Jackmaster site. As far as im concerned the design of the Australian Jackmaster Classic is the best. I see the Insane filter looks the same as the Jackmaster Classic at twice the price. The price of the elements is higher than a cats back. For the last 60 years ive never cared if the paper was virgin or recycled. The VIVA is virgin The core is recycled said you could rince them and reuse them. I have no idea why paper towels are so strong in water. I only filter oil.

Agree on virgin vs. recycled paper, the virgin paper may hold more water due to the longer fiber, not much more, maybe an extra ounce or two, water retention is definately needed in a closed hydraulic system, it says the recycled paper will release the water like it is a bad thing? That water should get eliminated through the pcv system, I have read that the shorter fiber recycled toilet paper has an additive to make the shorter fibers stronger, looking at a White Swan recycled roll and am wondering how they rolled it that tight.

About 20 years ago on a trawler world forum they were talking about using a Gulf Coast junior to preffilter drinking water on the trawler to save the expensive activated carbon filters. The Junior is glass filled nylon. Some times they have to take on some nasty water in foreign countries. That would be a good job for a cut down roll of paper towels. A NASA diesel equipment engineer saw my posts and started using the big Gulf Coast paper towel filters. I think he is the culprit that caused Gulf Coast filters to start putting the towels in a bag. They were moving the shuttle then. He said toilet paper is better than paper towels. He said the filters are only for industrial use we dont keep our equipment long enough for it to pay.

Activated carbon removes far more than a simple mechanical filter such as a “cut down roll of paper towels” or a toilet paper roll. This sounds like quite the legend.

So when did a trawler move the Shuttle in foreign countries?

How did you come up with this? lol
I just read what’s written that’s all. Maybe I don’t understand what a trawler is, or who NASA is, or what “shuttle” means in that context.
