Is there any amsoil bypass vs frantz TP bypass

Forget using the expensive filters, I use toilet paper, Scott's 1000. Makes great campfire starters.

No, it doesn't break down.

Sure, toilet paper breaks apart when you flush it, but have you ever tried flushing a whole roll? Hundreds of layers thick even the thinnest paper is very strong. Furthermore, the oil travels along the sheet, not through the sheet.

Because that is water.

the only thing that is questionable about Frantz is that it looks like TP, I'm always worried about the filter media breaking apart and clogging oil galleries. I'm probably wrong but just a theory I have in my head.
I started with a Frantz in 1963 Motor Guard about 1965. Oil makes any paper strong. If there was a problem with toilet paper breaking apart in a toilet paper filter I would know it. Ive heard the bs stories. Every engine I have that has a oil pump has a toilet paper filter including riding mowers and automatic transmission fluid.

Yes you are wrong toilet paper gets stronger in motor oil diesel gasoline bacon grease. Ive used toilet paper filters for over 60 years.

A PC (particle count) oil analysis will show the reduction of particulate in the oil; that would be beneficial.

I've studied BP effects in use, and compared/contrasted those to marketing claims, and come to the conclusion that ALL of the decent brands (Amsoil, Frantz, FS2500, etc) do a very good job of reducing particulate matter above 3um in size with excellent efficiency, and that is of a size that is essentially harmless to an engine. So essentially, the "performance" of the BP filter is assured. Therefore you should use other criteria to make a product selection. Initial cost of system, maintenance cost of elements, size/fit for your application, ease of getting replacement elements, etc. Take into account all these and then weigh them to your own personal needs.
My choice would be a top loader that uses Great Value 1000 from Walmart. Scott 1000 is bigger and needs more unrolled unless it is like my flat head Ford canister filter that takes a 4 1/2 inch diameter roll of Scott 1000. It has half a roll of VIVA paper towels in it now. Its on the Ford diesel tractor now.
Frantz filter i had 15ish years ago took toilet paper. Was a lady near Boise that ran the company out of her house, taken over from her Dad.

Other than stuff with large capacities and trying to get more life out of it to save money, it's probably not going to pay for itself.

IE a truck with 10 gallon oil sump makes sense where a car with 1.25 gallons probably nit.

They have all gone thru hard times. Most people think oil is supposed to get dirty and be drained. Filters that clean oil are called snake oil. I lost track of Frantz at Tacoma Washington. A big Frantz dealer in Gulfport Mississippi specialized in installing the Frantz 3 stackers on heavy duty marine diesels. When Frantz went broke he came out with the improved toilet paper filter called a Gulf Coast junior and big filters that take paper towels. The big Frantz 2 3 and 4 stackers didnt come back.
It doesn't come apart at all. I have a TP bypass filter (Motorguard) in the coolant system on my truck, and it just works.

I think that we tend not to see any before/after comparisons regarding the effectiveness of bypass filters because very few run a baseline analysis on their oil. I know I didn't start taking samples for analysis until after I'd got by oil bypass filter installed.

so who makes Frantz filters now? I have the Amsoil version on my F-350 PSD; I got the mount for free, so it's been on at least three vehicles I know of.

Not sure. I started with a Frantz in 1964. They started in Modesto California I believe . John Frantz owned them then. I went with the top loaders . Frantz is a terrible design but they clean oil. I suspect the old Amsoil canister filters were as good as the Frantz. They had Bobby Unser saying this oil change is forever. I dont think any spin on filter is as good as a Frantz. I am partial to filters that can use toilet paper. All I use now is the Australian Jackmaster Classic some Motor Guards some Gulf Coast juniors and a flat head Ford V8 canister filter I set up for a 4 1/2 inch diameter roll of Scott 1000. It has half a roll of Viva paper towels in it now. One time when Frantz went broke a full time Frantz dealer came out with a better small filter called a Gulf Coast junior. He replaced the Frantz 2 3 and 4 stackers with big filters that used Bounty big roll pap trucks now. The Ford industrial gasoline engines used the Gulf Coast juniors. They are out of production. When the founder of the Gulf Coast filter company passed away his head salesman took over. He owns oil field service boats and has little interest in small filters. He says his big diesel filters are 99 percent at under 1 micron.

The company that makes Hot Shot additives bought them maybe 7-8 years ago.
When I used the Frantz in the 60s they didnt tell people what oil or additives to use I used Delo 30W. It had its own additives.Couldnt use multi grade oil in those days in a diesel You can still get Delo 100 in 5W to 50W. Not for 29 cents a quart in the discount stores like in 1964.

As long as we have toilet paper filters we will have toilet paper bs stories.Toilet paper gets a lot stronger in any oil. The last time I bought a WIX cartridge for a Cummins Fleetguard 750 it was filled with pulverized newspapers. You wont hear any pulverized newspaper bs stories. Also fit the Luberfiner 750. Before the pulverized newspapers they used cotton the same as.the Fram on my 41 Dodge.

The Motor Guard on my old F 250 390 engine is over 50 years old. Cost me less than 50 bucks It has earned its keep.

I have used toilet paper filters since 1963. They come with bs stories.
IKeep thinking 63 I put a Frantz on a 64 Rambler American flat head 6. It came with a spin on bypass filter with steel oil lines To clean the oil it went into the trash and I installed a Frantz. Didnt find out about the Motor Guard for a couple more years. Toilet paper fit the Frantz in those days.
