Is there a way to electronically locate a lost key in the house?

We always find them … in the very last place we look….

I’m thinking if I were handed keys near the garage whilst doing other things, I would have set them in some convenient but non-standard spot in the garage, or close proximity.

This is why as a busy distracted geezer there is only one spot I set my keys if they are not in my pocket.

I do get a little OCD when staying away from home. Wherever I am I must create a new singular key spot.

Is the BMW a keyless start? Have you tried unlocking the car with what you have, leave the door open and move that key away, then get in and try to start the car? Maybe it's actually in the vehicle and fell down by the seat or other?
It's a keyless start. I already tried the trick to see if it is in the vehicle. When I first bought the vehicle I went through similar exercises to learn how the car behaves with the key.
Now when I can't find something, I joke that it is probably laying next to my missing key fob!
I realized the key was lost one week after I had it. How far can it go in one week?
I'm hoping that my patience will pay off and I'll find it when I least expect it.
