Is there a way to electronically locate a lost key in the house?

I lost my BMW keys somewhere in my home. It's a big house with a lot of stuff in it, so finding it is nearly impossible. Is there some electronic device that I could use to sense the key nearby, using the same proximity principle my car uses to sense the key in my pocket? It would be a lot easier than dragging my car through the house! I could then narrow my search for the key.

Maybe a flipper zero but probably not worth $170 just to find your keys.
Nevermind, seems the flipper can't detect it passively but only if a button is being pressed

The spare keys were handed to me by my passenger after a weekend trip. She handed them to me in front of the garage. So I know they were in my care. Never saw them again. Normally I keep all keys in a single drawer in the kitchen to minimize the chance of not finding them. I also checked the pocket of every jacket, pants, and bags.

I wish I could remove one of the sensors from my car, power it, and have it indicate somehow when I walk around the house.

There is probably an "electronic bug" detector that would trip when it gets near any transistor or diode junction. But I don't know where you would find one of those. Bug detectors could be passive ( detect transmitted signal from a bug ) or active that pings and looks for the demodulated return caused by a diode junction.

Metal Detector.

See if any of your friends have a metal detector. You might find other things you've lost , while looking for what you want.,,
Has anyone here ever used a metal detector indoors? Between nails in walls, pipes in walls ,rebar in floors, nails, screws and whatever in furniture etc a metal detector is useless indoors.
