Good evening BITOGERS. I have my Samsung S7 just about paid for. Not wild about the phone either as battery life blows. Is there any way I can use my IPhone SE with a carrier?

Thinking of a basic flip phone since I don't use much data on my smartphone as I use my IPad a lot.

Thanks in advance

I have an iPhone SE & my wife's iPhone 6 on Tracfone, and they have some pretty reasonable plans, which roll over if you add more. You should be able to "bring your own phone" with a cheap SIM kit (I bought mine at Kroger, and it didn't require an access/activation fee), and they are the cheapest for the limited use we give them (we are generally on wifi, use Google Voice & Facebook Messenger for messaging).

Which hardware model iPhone SE do you have? You asked if you can use it with a carrier, but you didn't state which carrier plus you need to know a little more about your phone.

Have the IPhone with Verizon wireless. It IS paid off and looks like I can use it with CRICKETT

Another option is to get the new Motorolla Moto X. I got one last week off Amazon for $190 I believe.
Really nice phone for the money.
Good technology keeps getting cheaper.

I'd get the $25 total wireless unlimited talk and data which runs on verizon. I'd add a 5gb addon card for $10 which doesn't expire (meaning it transfers to the next month...) until you use up all the data or cancel the service

My iPhone se was on Verizon I took a crack at putting a cricket wireless sim in and it worked. Maybe just Verizon iPhones are unlocked not sure. Cricket is great for the money go to a cricket store have the sales guy put a sim in your iPhone.

last spring we got mom her first smart phone, an iPhone SE (basically the iPhone 5) at the same time as switching her to Pre-paid on Verizon(previously an off contract OLD lg vzw flipper - maybe 10 yrs old.)
Verizon prepaid had the SE for $250. (may still), the local VZW corporate store: 1)knew nothing of this deal, 2) gave us all kinds of flack about switching to an "inferior product" ie: prepaid vs contract. 3) couldn't or just plain wouldn't match the deal as apparently the Pre-paid side is a totally separate thing.... or at least operates thusly..

I had to call customer service, but was able to get her that deal, at the same time as converting the account to prepaid(keeping the number she's had forever)

she pays $35/mo for unlimited talk/text, with a mere 500MB of data, but it does carry over if you don't use it all. (if she wants to add more data a la carte, it's like $5 a gig(may have changed - they change the prepay plans all the time)

but there's wifi most everywhere she goes, and does most of her "surfing", etc on her iPad Mini.
and if that plan no longer suits you, you can change it once a month. you could change it every month if you wanted to.

(and even if you use up all 500mb, they don't just shut you off, you just get throttled way down...)

basically all Verizon phones have been unlocked for several years now, that is until the Pixel 3. VZW is the "exclusive" carrier for the Pixel 3, though you can buy one unlocked direct from Google. but the ones purchased from VZW come Locked.

I also have an iPad I use extensively, and an iPhone SE. I love the SE as it's quite capable but a small, easily carried unit.

I don't think it works for Verizon phones, but I have it now on Simple Mobile. That runs on T-Mobile's backbone so you get that same level of signal quality. 5gb LTE data (unlimited, but throttled after that) is only $20/month. Works great for me.

Now I'm confused. When i spoke to Verizon person; they tell me when your phone is paid off it is unlocked.

I imagine that since my iphone is paid off it is unlocked

They don't automagically unlock you have to ask or go through a process while you still have service

What about a Verizon Samsung 6, and Samsung 7 phones?

Not sure about the s7, but I did try the s6 a few years ago.. Verizon s6 worked with a cricket sim which is att network but only would get 3g I couldn't connect to 4g or LTE.

I work in IT and really like the Iphone SE.

I have had all the latest samsung phones, the SE is great for me. Mine was free from metro, and unlocked after 90 days of service.

Metro service is terrible we are looking at moving it to ATT after christmas.
