Sadly the only difference between a sketchy hotel and an acceptable one is that one has a room open and the other doesn’t. Prices and locations usually aren’t affected by divyness.I don’t mind spending more money to get a quality hotel.
I will not stay in a sketchy motel just to save money or be close to my destination.
Sight-seeing in Manhattan is getting ridiculous. Even the entry level national chains like Red Roof or Comfort Inn want at least $360 per night after taxes and fees.
And 30% of NYC apartments are vacant at least 10 months of the year because you know who owns themSomething like 25% of all NYC hotels are filled with you know who now. Reference Cash Jordan YouTube channel.

One has a 4.5 rating on google maps, which is pretty hard to get. I would give that one a shot for sure. I have gone super cheap and those are sketchy, but if I pick the cheapest one above a 3.5-3.7 on google, its always been clean and good enough.I don't do fleastone places...
Paying more money makes a great filter for your prospective neighbors for the night.
We have to when we stay near my daughter college by a $100 for decent room and also next level guests.
No police visits in the night or stench of weed in the halls when you pay $240+ .
