INEOS may build in the US.

What are they selling. I know them for boutique oils. Is this for fuel stations?

EDIT: I see its for a overpriced boutique vehicle. Sorry

Not for my wallet. Seems they're trying to get into the higher income sales that has kept vehicle prices high in the US. I wish them well but this seems like it isn't for the regular joe/jane.

"The pickup truck model, called Quartermaster, starts at $84,400. A limited-edition, tailored model of the Grenadier SUV, called Detour, can cost around $157,000."

If people are willing to pay $80k for such snooze fests as the Land Cruiser or Bronco, then I’m sure there is market for a boutique SUV too.

Definitely 😁

I can't get too excited about this stuff since it's so out of touch with my reality. I could pay cash but why? That would be a bad financial decision in my opinion. These new startups need to cater to whoever they can use to get started but at least one American billionaire is behind a cheaper startup. This foreign brand should remain sceptical until proven otherwise.

Don't forget, the percentage of foreign sourced components deeply effects how much "Made in the USA" we get.
Engines, axles, transmissions and transfer cases all can be sourced abroad.

I've read that harkening back to the '40's-'70's is all you can do. Recreating the '40's-'70's is impossible.
For one thing, the work force isn't there.
Paying factory workers well is the very last thing any company wants to do.

The link showed me a vehicle which is way too "Land Rovery" for me.....another posh grocery getter which may be a bit more rugged.

The station wagon starts at $71k. It's less than half the price of a Mercedes G-Wagon. Basically around the same price as a Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

A BITOG member bought one of these a couple of years ago.

Thanks, I'd rather get the Wagoneer personally (easy choice). I'd never buy one unless they've been safety tested, to see how they stack up, by their respective US groups.

I saw one inside the mall in Charlotte like a year ago - a new one for advertising.

I have seen one on the road here. There target is not the mall crawling crowd I would guess. Its purpose built for crossing Africa in 1970 before the Chinese built all the roads. Whether it actually can I do not know, but that is what they advertise.

I think its pretty cool. I'll stick with my Xterra however.

I have seen exactly one in Houston - and there are plenty of vehicles in that price range on those streets …

@Eneos is the lube maker …
@4wd ,Yes, Eneos is the largest oil manufacturer from Japan. Ineos is an entirely different company not related to Eneos. Ineos is from the UK. I noticed there has been some confusion, mixing the two.

ENEOS and INEOS are entirely separate companies: ENEOS is a Japanese oil and energy company, while INEOS is a British multinational chemical and petrochemical conglomerate.

ENEOS

ENEOS is Japan’s largest oil company, officially known as JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., established in 1888 and headquartered in Tokyo. The company specializes in premium synthetic oils, lubricants, and energy products, serving automotive and industrial markets worldwide. ENEOS products are recognized for high performance in engine cleanliness, wear resistance, and water resistance, and the brand name is a combination of “energy” and “neos,” meaning “new” in Greek. ENEOS operates globally with manufacturing and sales facilities, focusing primarily on fuel, lubricants, and energy services.

INEOS

INEOS is a British multinational conglomerate headquartered in London, founded by Jim Ratcliffe in 1998. It is one of the world’s largest chemical companies, with operations in chemicals, polymers, oil and gas, automotive, construction, packaging, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and professional sports. INEOS operates 154 sites across 27 countries, generating around $55 billion annually and employing over 24,500 people. The company is organized into 29 individual businesses, each operating independently, and has diversified into automotive with the INEOS Grenadier 4x4. The name INEOS originates from INspec Ethylene Oxide and Specialities, reflecting its chemical roots, and also evokes “neos,” symbolizing innovation.

They've been for sale in the US for almost 4 yrs. It's a BMW B58/ZF8HP drivetrain. Kinda like an X5 with different body

That's good to know. I know some could care less about safety but pretty sure these have not been tested by IIHS for example. Disappointing at their cost point after 4 years.
