Some of the old Egyptian ammo was super "hot". Beware!
My uncle didn't like Egyptian stuff, he said most of it was seriously corrosive.

Now that I see 22lr is back, I've been stocking up (not a great price but it's not stopping me), but I'm getting to the point where I don't feel like buying "cheap" bulk anymore. Of any caliber. I don't want to be an "ammo snob" but I don't buy the cheapest tires, brakes or things like that. [Cheap shoes, socks, watches... sure!] No desire for kabooms, getting too apprehensive as I age I guess.
Have a bag full of gun show reloads that a friend gave me... but I've been too cautious to use. Heck, I have some primed brass that I can't bring myself to reload! no idea why I bought it, but I've had it for must be 10 years now, no idea what I was thinking.

I recall my uncle still has about three cases left of the cheap (I think NORINCO) .22LR he bought. It shoots fine in his Winchester 63, though I've certainly seen cleaner ammo. Everything else he shoots, he reloads.
Bulk ammo, the kind that's thrown into a surplus ammo can is a hard pass for me. No name, no lot number, no sale.

That sucks. I found a lot of ammo dumpster diving zink point what is one of them box of 50 shame you can’t shoot them I’m a little afraid about them. I wouldn’t want them to explode in my firearm really sucks because the box looks really good nickel plated brass. Oh well I guess I’ll just keep them for a museum of exploding ammo.
Surplus Paki was my jam in the early 90's. Only thing on the box I could read was 9MM Parabellum or in some cases simply 9X19
At least I was told it was Paki. Heck, it might have been Egyptian. Or Syrian. Or Iranian. Who knows.
