From Fast Five, driven by inside line. Not a fan of their senior editor, he just doesn't get it. But when he gives it the beans at 1:50.... That is the best sounding V8 I've heard in my life.

Which engine is that?

If it's original to a '68 Scout, it's probably an IH 266 V8. If it's been replaced, it could be a 304, 345, 392, or possibly some other IH V8. Personally, I've always been a big fan of their engines.

My 68,800 had a 266 that broke a piston. I couldn't get a piston for the 266 so I dropped a low mileage 345 in. A direct drop in as long as you have duel exhaust and the 345 intake manifold. Everything else bolts right on.

The 800 with a 345 really scooted!

Nick, you need to get out more

Go to an NHRA or IHRA event. You'll hear some incredible sounding engines.
