Im curious if the Wix and Motorcraft and even Super Tech filters will change to those tiny little slits for oil holes in the center tube since Mann + Hummel is at the wheel. If they do i for one will be done with Wix also just like im done with Purolator.

Why are people so upset at these little slits in the new Purolator filters? Do you have any proof that they are insufficient, or even a negative in any way? Other than pure speculation, that is...

The media itself is likely far more restrictive anyhow. Do you also refrain from using more efficient media in filters because it is inherently more restrictive?

Speculation is the best you're going to get on this website unless it's information coming from Dnewton or Molekule.

i said it before if the oil holes look much smaller and you are not blind you will be able to see for yourself, a 5 year old could see..
If they indeed are better in any way except to stop the media from tearing by slowing down the flow maybe the people that make the fire hoses for the firetrucks should be using them in your neighborhood. Believe what you want you are entitled to an opinion but i won't be using them thats for sure.

My response to the title of this thread is, I hope they do. I love improvements. Real improvements, that is.

What I hope they don't do is develop a common design type, and discard the Wix design simply for economics. For me the forward bypass valve is one of the primary reasons I have selected the Wix Gold filter.

What if everyone went to this design, because it was inherently better, what would you do?

His threads are pointless to say the least.

WE GET IT THAT YOU DONT LIKE THE TINY SLITS OR PUROLATOR. STOP POSTING ABOUT IT ALREADY. You are like a broken record and don't listen to anything anyone tells you.

Agreed. Hastings and Baldwin use it, and they claim better flow, not less. So, it obviously can work, if implemented correctly.

I see no issue with the little slit design.

With the ST filter I cut open last Friday, it had far fewer holes down the center tube. They were larger, but it didn't have as many either.

He might have to stop driving altogether

I love to read some of these posts if one person likes the color silver then almost everyone else agrees.. Its hilarious everyone is a clone...lol
I say use what you want and believe what they tell you or whatever the others believe because sometimes its easier to follow.. I am not a follower. This stuff keeps me amused..lol

If you like high flow, go pick up those clearance Purolators, with all those tears I bet the flow is fantastic!

As pointed out many times, it all depends on the total flow area of all the holes or slits added together. As has been shown already, if the slits are opened up pretty good, and with the large number of them, the total area is very large ... much larger than the total area of the base inlet holes or the filter mounting spud ID.

As also mentioned, if you do by a filter with a louvered center tube, take a look down inside before buying to ensure the slits are opened up pretty good, and not opened up just a hair.
