I've decided that my case of 76 Super Synthetic Blend is going to supply my dad's girlfriend with two oil changes. She drives an '02 Grand Prix with the 3100 V6, and the 76 is 5w30. I'll just keep using good old Quaker state for my own vehicles, as I know it's a fine oil.

Any 5w30 should work for the OLM's suggestions.

The 76 is probably rebottled Motorcraft anyway

Not necessarily in the case of the 5W20 grade. The base oil of MC 5W20, both SM and SN, is something truly, you know, super. But the base oil for 5W20 of Chevron Supreme, Mobil Super 5000, Mobil Super Synthetic, 76 Super Synthetic Blend are required to be sufficiently super also, because it's harder to make quality 5W20 than to make quality 10W30.

The Pontiac will love it. Of course when you hear how well it runs on it you may want some back for yourself!

I just looked up the PQIA test of 5W-20's, and the Super looked like it had a pretty nice add pack. It was right up there with Quaker State and Motorcraft. Now I know that there are sometimes minute differences in grades, but it still looked nice. I have time to decide, and the bottles only look better every day.

Yeah, I know that 76, TropArtic, and Conoco Super are all the same. Smart in my opinion, as it allows them to sell more oil based on regional brand recognition.

I've been satisfied with the 76 Super 5w-20 I've used the past 18 months in my Ridgeline. I prefer Kendall, but my nearest Phillips 66 distributor only carries 76 brand. Last case I bought was $2.59 a quart.

Now when I go to Florida I can buy Kendall GT-1 syn blend for $3.78 a quart at an indie parts store. That's a nice price compared to the auto chain stores who may still carry it.
