Nearly couldn't breath.

Not sure why.

Like an asthma/allergy attack. I thought maybe it was from weed whacking. I mean other than hacking a lung up, eyes running and nose watering and heart pounding, head exploding, can't breath, I'm fine. It was more than hour after I showered, etc

I usually never have grass allergies. The odd part, it happened around 8-10 minutes after I ate 3 store bought grape tomatoes. Daughter is allergic to tomatoes and I was tested to have some sensitivity to tomatoes.

Carry on. Feel like I need to rest now.

Wait a day and eat 4 grape tomatoes. See if it happens again. Then you'll know for sure.*

*Don't do this. I have plenty of food allergies. Been in anaphylactic shock a few times. It's not fun. Did your tongue or cheeks swell up? My wife carries my epipen. Never had to use it and I'm lucky it takes a few bites of something to trigger my allergies. Does your wife know about this? Ensure she doesn't sneak a few grape tomatoes into your cornflakes.

Seems like tomatoes is your answer.

You may want to visit an allergist. Take advantage of your health plan, things can change overtime, make sure you don’t become a statistic.

I can get angioedema, two times in my life after a course of drug therapy. Most recent was the anti-cancer drug last year. My face blew up like Shrek was at the emergency room three times in six weeks.

Tested by a total of three different allergist practices. Once in 2019 and two times Dec/Jan 2025/26 Results = “ no known cause”
Seems like I’m 1 of 100,000 in the country.
We do have EpiPen’s, never had to use them as it never spread to the back of my throat. But we keep the prescription up-to-date.

I think what happened to you was extremely serious and you need to see a doctor. I was told by both allergy practices if what happened to you ever starts happening to me stab myself with the EpiPen ASAP and if need be again with another one.

Do not attempt to get to the hospital without first using the EpiPen because if it happens to me, and I don’t use the pen right away. I will never make it to the emergency room.

I’m not kidding don’t take this lightly. Allergies can change overtime so if you haven’t been diagnosed recently, don’t play games.
They’ll probably do a blood draw of about six or seven vials, with your description they might write a prescription for EpiPens before even the results come in I don’t know.

Serious stuff, a lot of people die from it.
Some police departments on Long Island New York have now equipped police vehicles with EpiPen’s

Knowledge is knowing that tomatoes are a fruit.

Wisdom is knowing not to use them in a fruit salad - or in this case as a replacement for bananas on one's cornflakes.

Sorry, I had to do that. Carry on.

Allergies to food can develop or pop up at a later stage in life. This is about you, not me, but my allergic reaction to Cilantro is just as you describe. I loved the stuff, especially in Vietnamese food until one day, in my late forties, I was eating a Vietnamese salad and thought I was going to die. Daughter's friend is an ER Dr. and and luckily was dining with us. She shot me with something in her purse and in 10 minutes I was fine. She said it happens.

I would certainly schedule to see your doctor. Not being able to breath is serious and could be a precursor to something far more serious.

Since you have surely eaten tomatoes before, that may not have been the trigger.
It sounds like you had an anaphylactic reaction and are probably lucky to have recovered.
See a Doc ASAP and get a script for an epinephrine pen. Whatever set this reaction off in you may bring a faster and more deadly reaction should it happen again.
An allergist may be able to help in determining what caused this.
I can tell you from personal experience that epinephrine is a miracle drug in relieving anaphylaxes, although it will also bring both your BP and heart rate to never before seen levels.
