I found a gallon of sealed Castrol Syntec Blend 20W-50

I saw a yard sale sign in my neighborhood and thought I'd stop in on my day off running errands. Alot of homes near me have aging couples selling for a mint and retiring or going into retirement homes. I saw a gray gallon and it is a sealed container of Castrol Syntec Blend 20W-50. About the only thing I have to use it for would be my Mazda RX-7 race car that I haven't driven in a while and want to get going this summer. I offered $5 abd was told sure. Can anyone decipher the manufacturing date giving me a rough age? Printed information is M022473 8 or 9 03 A1

API service SL rated oil was introduced in 2001. I would use it for my lawn mower, it's not recommended for use in a vehicle after 2004..

Only after about 5 minutes in a home improvement store’s paint shaker…

For 5 bucks I'd use it without second thought. But drain 4 quarts out and shake it with the last quart in there in case additives settled at the bottom. I think the rx7 existed during SL so it wouldn't be out of place.
