I am replacing slide pin boots on every brake pad change

Thanks for the unfortunate info. Centric & Carlson products have been good to me. Raybestos brakes nose dived when they went out of business and became a Superfund Site. Used them once since they went under, never again. Who knows who is manufacturing them now. Some global companies that paid for the name. It's a shame. They are garbage now. Glad I have stockpiled rotors :)....but no stockpiled pins..:(.....But, I have stockpiled calipers and brackets :)......This SALT BELT SUX !!!!!!! Gotta keep stock of everything :(..

Now I know why when looking for brake hardware Carlson and Raybestos has the same pictures! And the same part package markings, etc.. I used Carlson for years, it was a high quality product. The other one that has the same markings/numbers on the package is Oreilly's Brakes Best house brand.. I bet it's the same exact parts. Who knows, maybe one Chinese factory makes everything brake hardware related and everyone just slaps their own brand name on it?! It's getting to be like the Wild E Coyote cartoons, everything came from ACME corporation!

Yes, I've been using Carlson since the late 70's. They were a fantastic aftermarket product.....Loved Raybestos brake pads & shoes too. Another great product back in the day. No more. Nothing left. Nothing any good. Just read an article online today that NASA will be cut to the bones 1-26, less than what was put into it when it started in the 50's, then eventual dismantlement. Took an hour to read it. From it's beginnings to it's end...So sad....

BrakeBest hoses are Sunsong. And their pads are either from FDP China or MAT Roulunds India - same suppliers as AutoZone’s Duralast or Advance’s Carquest brake programs.

Go figure. Bought brake hoses from Fleabay for an 06' Camry. All 4 of them. They were Sunsong too, but were not listed as Sunsong. Just listed as " Brake Hoses". This was around 5-25. They hoses fit perfect, but I didn't like the caliper washers. Too thin for my liking. Went through my collection of washers and found thicker ones. The ones they supplied were paper thin. Hoses were good quality though.

I was talking the brake hardware at Oreilly under the Brakes Best house brand. But it makes sense Sunsong is everywhere lately, they bought out a brake hose supplier to GM in I think it was Moraine, Ohio.

I noticed I had a torn boot today while I was working on my brakes had really uneven pad wear. One of the slide pins was seized causing the very corner of the pad to hit the backing plate, while the rest of the pad had a good amount of life left. Caught it just in time, literally. So here I am got the new boot installed greased up etc. Then I'm like omg, it's the boot that's swollen up over time causing these pins to bind. I can easily move the slide pin back and forth with my pinky now. Went ahead and put a new boot on the other slide pin too. Best $8 I ever spent
What kind of lube are you using for the slide pin? I have moved to silicone paste.

Question - does brake cleaner damage the slide pin boots? It does a job on my hand holding the boot while spraying it with brake cleaner. I know gloves.

That AGI sylglide is what i just started using.

Order silicone paste on Amazon. Mission is the one I got. There are several.

I believe Sil-glyde is silicone and mineral oil. Silicone paste is just silicone.
I haven't heard anything bad about the sil glyde. A lazy dishonest mechanic caused all my issues. Funny how I get accused of being called slow with everything I do, but yet somehow I always catch little details most everyone else overlooks. Ive never touched a set of brakes in my life before this. Doesnt mean im not capable of scratching my head to figure out why something is messed up. I wasnt about to put everything back together all seized up again.

If you read various posts here you will see posts where Sil-glyde has dried up after a year or two. I have moved from Sil-Gylde to silicone paste.

Now if you are one who pulls the brakes apart every year to lube them it may not matter.
