But today Ford and GM products are every bit equal to their equivalent Honda, Toyota, Hyundai products.

Perhaps, But look at what happened in order for them to bring that par up...

I agree 100 percent and I am a GM guy to the end.
Perception is hard to change, people need to understand that GM and Ford DO make good cars!

Never heard of it, but I do know that Hyundai is a very diversified company. I have a Hyundai DVD player, for example.
They built tanks, tanker ships, electronics; I would not be surprised if they owned a steel mill or two. Their part cost might be lower due to vertical integration.

Of course this turns into a domestic/foreign flaming match. It is BITOG, after all. Stay on topic, people.

Fact is that Hyundai came up in the game by blatantly copying Toyota engine design. Once they started selling enough cars, they finally put some money into their own R&D. I still wouldn't drive one.

Technically Hyundai may beat Honda, but only on a small statistical anomaly. I still see Honda as the greener company, for their role in hybrid vehicles and the fact they they don't make a production V-8 engine, unlike Hyundai.

True I forgot how many things they made. Probably own a plastics company also some where.

You really need to check your research/history. Please do not post false information.

Where did you get that information? Did you pull it out of your rear?

Don't worry, I was laughing at the part of the statement that I italicized. Blatant inaccuracy, on several levels.

And people need to Understand the same about Hyundai.

People do not have to understand anything, it's up to the company to improve its image. Last time I checked, Ford and Hyundai do not whine about perception gaps, GM does. Sure, the perception gap is there, no doubt about that, but saying this publically hurts the image even more, because you're insulting the customer.

I think GM finally realized this, as I don't recall them complaining about perception gap anymore.

I think Korean and American cars are extremely under-rated.

...and a big no thanks to people like AcuraTech for false information.

Toyota came up by copying the GM Stove Bolt. Toyota's first cars were GM clones.

What I am saying is when a company, such as Ford or Hyundai (in this case since were talking about them) HAS improved it's image, and have statistics from various sources to back it up, there are still those who bash the companies with most, if not all never even giving an unbiased chance to find out for themselves. Remember the yesteryear "Ford Vs Chevy" fights you had in High School? (in my case, 70's and 80's) Well, while you were fighting, Toyota and Honda slipped on by and blew both out the water, both statistically, sales, and in engineering. Yet those people still bashed them because they weren't "Fords Or Chevys". or "American"... That being said, sometimes it IS the customer who needs to understand, or better yet, get a reality check.
