Yesterday my wife and I bought a new 2025 Honda Pilot Elite and I'd like your input on which forum seems to be your most go-to out of the bunch... like BITOG for PCMO information. Piloteers.org pops up at or near the top in an internet search, but is this due to its popularity amongst owners, or paying off "the man"? Thank you.

Thank you. I'm still in a bit of shock, but it having a naturally aspirated engine and torque converter transmission is "comforting". The additional room will definitely come in handy on our trips to Wisconsin to our daughter's. I couldn't even sit in the back of the Audi unless the front seat was moved forward quite a bit. I'm 6', or at least used to be all my adult life until last year's physical. Now they say I'm 5'11"! Bites getting old, but it's better than the alternative, I guess.

At my tallest, I used to be 5'10 & 3/4" and am now 5'9" 🤫 but I feel great!

I wouldn't expect the PILOT to be as refined as the AUDI but, it has to be close. I think a more competative Honda product to the AUDI would be the Acura RDX. 2.0 T with the same 10 spd auto as the PILOT.

The Acura MDX is the same platform. I considered it for just a moment, but I'm running away from all the bells-and-whistles. Most reviews I've seen even say at the higher Pilot trim levels, the MDX isn't worth the $10k+ to "move up".

I didn't think I'd be this way. but in the Audi I felt a kinship towards other Audi drivers, similar to riding a Harley and passing another going the opposite direction. You always stick your hand out in acknowledgement.

My neighbor upgraded his Q5 to a Q7 and S6 to a RS7. I felt inferior. Don't have to worry about any of that in a Honda.

Yes, the MDX is the same platform of the Pilot. I may have missed it but I didn’t see you mention which model of Audi that you replaced with the Pilot. In my post above, I was comparing for example the Audi Q5 and the Acura RTX both having 2L turbos. But the Audi having a dual clutch transmission in the RTX having the 10 speed automatic now used in most time does that don’t have a CVT.

Pilot tiers is pretty good. That’s where I learned about the VCM muzzler. My wife loves her 19. Last year of the six speed. VCM disabled, external transmission cooler and synthetic atf in the transmission is keeping the pilot happy.

Acura is definitely not competition to Audi. Yes, you can hike up material quality inside. But Audi i A4 and larger models has completely different platform than VW. They have longitudinal engines, different AWD, they are built differently regardless that they share engines. Audi’s have ZF8 unlike VW that comes with Aisin, and where they share platform they utilize DSG if automatic is choice (robotized manual in this case). In few instances they do utilize Aisin.
To achieve dynamic capabilities of longitudinal platform, Acura must be pinned down, which negatively influences comfort. $10k more? Not worth it by any means.

My son loves his Pilot. Service the trans every 30k. There is an external trans fluid filter that should be charged also. Other than that, you’re good.

What year is hist Pilot? I have a 21 and will be doing the fluid soon, i was not aware of an external filter.

OP, is there anything specific you're looking for? Because, overall, this is the best place for most things.

His is a 2018. We learned the hard way…! After 35k the trans was slow to shift. Did a 3-fluid change and no more issues. (6 speed with drain plug). Maybe I added the filter but either way…simple.

I have a Pilot LX (base) 2015 purchased used for my kid, dump runs and occasionally towing cargo and open trailers and occasionally 8 passengers.

I am not into car however in searches of minor issues I have found Piloteers site comes up a lot/helpful.

The new ones seems really nice compared to previous generations. Enjoy.

do you have a 6 speed or 9 speed? I don't think 9 speed has the external to change. If you have a 9 speed with an external transmission cooler you can always put one inline on one of the rubber hoses.
I have the ZF 9 speed. No external transmission cooler, I believe that is an optional accessory, we do not do any towing.

It was a 2022 Q5 Prestige, 2.0L turbo with the 7-speed dual clutch transmission. My bad for not realizing the comparison. Besides comfort on long drives, it easily got over 30mpg averaging 80mph or so. My wife was pleasantly surprised the first time she passed a slower vehicle. A slight mash on the accelerator and she was over 100mph. She's already commented she's going to miss the Audi's ability to pass slower cars.

PontiacHO - I thought I'd seen something about an external transmission filter, but haven't dug into it yet. Glad to hear one exists.

My wife and I went out for a bit this afternoon. I forgot how much I loved the brake hold feature on a Honda. The Audi only had the electronic parking brake. Once set, it would release when you touched the gas, but the next time you stopped, it had to be manually set again. The adaptive cruise is much more responsive on the Pilot than the Audi. When you decreased the following distance in the Audi, it would soon revert back to maximum, no matter the settings applied. It also would come to a stop in traffic, but wouldn't accelerate until the car in front was so far ahead several cars would cut in front. Once you set the Honda, that's where it stays, even after shutting down and back on. Also, when the car in front pulls away, no chance for a car to cut you off... at least not a reasonable person (which can be few and far between).

I did see in another post that you have/had a '22 Q5.
I also missed the correct name when referring to the RDX, calling it an RTX. Ooops!
Audi's certainly are sweet rides as many of my friends/family have'em(along with BMW & MB) and they're
certainly well made & refined vehicles that justify their cost difference over the mainstream vehicles.

If I wasn't so close to retiring, and my wife and I deciding not to replace my pickup, which was totaled in a hail storm 1.5 years ago, we would have kept the Audi. I didn't want to worry about the what-ifs of it being our only car.

If you haven't yet noticed, I have a tendency to overthink things. Bless my poor wife for having dealt with me for so many years.
