Hyundai styling

If you could post up a photo of another sedan that has these intersecting straight line styling cues I'd like to see it. Do kinda like the fastback treatment. We want unique but not too unique.
I like it even though its not the best looking. Why? cause it's sharp and very different in a big sea of bland design.
Let's see... angular, hideous, hatchbacks? These look familiar. Honda Civic. Honda Crosstour. Toyota's entry. Chevy Cruze. Probably several more on the roads... All extremely ugly forgettable, and I couldn't even tell you which belongs to which without a badge.

You don't understand how it works. Toyota and Honda can have angular designs and that's OK. However Hyundai can't. That's the way it works.

Ooph, it's an ugliest cars post.

Always get a laugh from all things Kiyundai. It's a bizarre "me too" thing they do... they want to copy, but they can't quite do it without looking odd. I do miss the old days though when they tried to make those little vehicles that looked like Lexuses, Jags and Mercedes.

"...with an edge".

Are you talking about the 2016-2018 Elantra? I thought that was a clean, timeless design. This was just before the 2019 refresh with the angles being introduced.

I agree. I liked that generation Elantra (17-18).

2019 and 2020 models though, must have been designed by that designer obsessed with triangles.

I'm talking about this weird bug looking refresh right before the new gen with the triangle lights. I think the 2019 and 2020 years. I much preferred the 2017 design it looked sophisticated.

I just can't get past all the oil burning, cracked blocks, blown head Gaskets....that I changed on Korean cars, tractors, and Korean built equipment back in the 90s. And they were hideous then too. Always a copy of something better.

The new elantra is Overstyled. Exaggerated lines just to stand out. I am not a fan of overstylizing. New Sienna has similar issue.

That purple cross-tour thing is beyond repulsive! Look like an egg on wheels.

Check out the 74 Hyundai Pony Concept. Too bad they never made it:

There was one model that always made me laugh..... It was as if someone at Hyundai asked "Alexa, draw me a car!" and the resulting product looked like a "Generic Car" from five years previous; already behind the times. Excel, Elantra, Sonata.... One of those I think unless I am missing one.

Origami design school. Got to appreciate the effort to be different. The newer Mazda 3s don't have a body crease or sharp edge anywhere.

I don't know if they were any good but always thought these early 2000s Elantra GTs had good lines and proportions.

GF owned one of these and drove it over 250k before selling it. It was a great car!!! Loved it. Shoot... if they updated this a bit... I'd be interested.

I personally think that Kia cars look much better across the board. I am really digging the Genesis models though.

Their obsess with XXL front grill ruined the styling. Feels like 16-18 Elantra, 15-17 Sonata is the peak of their design.
