How's everyone liking the XenForo look?

As with others, it didn't recognise my password, or my email as the email address I had in 2003 no longer exists. So this is the new me, actually the old me as this is my user name on most other sites, and was the name I registered with in 2003, and promptly banned even before I got to post. Aussies and Kiwis got into trouble in early internet days for calling a toilet a toilet, and for not backing down on any issue. We've mellowed over the years.

A while back, I updated my since deprecated email address in UBB to the current one, and although the change was correctly reflected in my user panel, there was some glitch and the new software didn't recognize or associate the right address with my username. It did recognize the old one, which is no more, so that presented a bit of a pickle.

I sent a message to Wayne using the Contact Us form at the bottom of the page, and he took care of it quickly.

He's no doubt busy at the moment, but the situation can be fixed for people who want to retain their old user profiles.

XF and vB share a lineage (too much so, according to lawsuits), but they're good packages. Anyone with a complaint should go try Reddit for a while.

Don't worry. This crusty old Alaskan -- one whose been around the Alaskan bush and world more than a couple of times -- seldom says much anymore either. It's nominally too blunt or direct, and is most definitely anti-pc. Worldly experience isn't what it once was... the younger think they know better. No... they know they know better!

And I never have been able to stay logged in no matter how hard I push on the checkbox.... lol
That was controlled by a cookie set by the site (or more directly, the forum s/w). The cookie would log you out every ~28 days no matter what. Many users didn't encounter this because they logged in each time they visit and then logged out when they "left".

Wayne helped me login in. I had to use my screen name not the usual userID, then I was able to get a reset.

That confused me as I always logged in with our userID

Then, I changed the preference color to Blue and I'm almost happy.
Is there any way to get the "new posts" column on the left instead of the right?

thx!

Just don’t bring up the use of loo snorkels and you should be fine. 😁

At the risk of being shot - is the search super great? I say it's a bit better but not killer. No frills and it works. I tend to select by date. Not sure how true the relevance selection works. This is not a complaint more of an observation.

Ability to search across time range wider than 1 year is a big improvement, IMO.

I like the notification bell icon on the header. I can now go straight to it to see my replies to a post instead of going back and forth to my email.
Someone did A LOT of work here and it shows. GREAT JOB! (y)

The one thing that I miss most is posts in forums that I frequent would be highlighted if they were new from my last visit. And posts that were not updated since the last visit would be dark. Am I missing a setting os is this feature gone?
