How you get white towels white?

I have a habit of going all over the property barefoot whenever I'm in my pajamas. Then before I get dressed and put my $20 boot socks on, I like to take a hot wash cloth and clean my feet. Whatever that stuff is that comes off my feet and onto the white wash cloth, that stuff don't come off in the wash. Don't even bother recommending bleach because all that stuff does is chemically destroy the cotton. The bleach they have these days is worthless.

What say you my oil buddies? You guys always have an answer for everything.

Two things spring to mind - slip a pair of shoes on before you go outside; use a dark coloured wash cloth to clean your feet!

How about buy brown washcloth?

Or sit on the edge of the tub and run some water over your feet and rub them with your hands. That way you don't get a washcloth dirty.

I used Goop hand cleaner to get some oil stains out of a white t-shirt and it worked like a charm!

It does damage the fibers, however NOT THAT MUCH. Seriously, one washing in bleach won't hurt a thing.

How is today's bleach different from the days of yore? Thats like saying todays sugar just isn't as sweet as it used to be.

But seriously, what about washing soda or borax? Worst case Chlorox has a safer version of their bleach you can try. Also, maybe try a non bleach alternative like hydrogen peroxide? Also oxi clean as others have said.

Merk, there's nothing wrong with today's bleach. I do my laundry seriously old school, and it's fine. Clorox does offer a fiber friendly chlorine bleach that I use, mostly because they added a smell to cover a bit of the chlorine bit. My whites always get Tide with Bleach, Clorox, and hot water.

Soaking for a couple of days in your favorite soap/bleach mixture before washing. Agitate it a couple of times before washing, too.
