I just bought a 99 Prizm 3spd auto with 113k on it. I am currently doing a ARX regimen on it. Was wondering what others would suggest for further baselining the motor and tranny etc..Esp like to hear from other 1ZZFE owners but also any suggestions would be most welcomed.

I'd also do Regane in the fuel tank ..probably back to back treatments. Maybe a Seafoam intake cleaning with an intermediate soak.

I do not own or know a darn thing about 1ZZFE engines except that it's one of many oddball alpha-numeric designations that seem to facinate asian engine designers.

Sorry for false post above...

In addition to ARX:

- new PCV valve.
- new air filter if needed.
- drain & refill radiator with approprate Toyota coolant.
- check & replace hoses if needed.
- new plugs, wires if they're OEM or look bad.
- If you're not ARXing the tranny just drain & refill.
- Drive that thing and save your money for other projects.

My Aunt has a '99 3-speed Corolla - it's a stout car.

I think it's a "sludger" but 3-4K intervals will prevent problems.

Thanks for the posts so far guys. Keep them coming.
They serve to reaffirm my approach til now.
Here is what I've done:
ARX engine and tranny.
new air filter, PCV, plugs and wires.
power steering fluid-suction and fill.
NuFinish exterior,shampooed interior

Here is what I plan:
brake fluid suction and fill times 3
tranny full replacement with Amsoil synthetic
2 cycles of ARX (currently on first rinse)
check belts and hoses
new thermostat and radiator cap
flush and fill w/Toyota red(thx boyd)
My concerns:
I want to rule out or treat any oil ring issues before I go whole hog with synthetic all around. Appreciate input on that.

Also I ran a bottle of Redline followed by a can of B 12 Chemtool in the gas tank.

Already an increase in power within last 200 miles.
Gas mileage is up to 31.8 mostly highway 85/15
So I feel I on the right track.

Suck/Fill of the brake fluid wont bleed the old stuff at the calipers. You really need to bleed the brakes conventionally as part of a fluid change for maximum benefit.

Oh, forgot on last post. I just bought a 99 Corolla with 120k on it. I just put S2K 0W-30 in it and didn't bother with the ARX. I'm too cheap and I wanted synthetic as the weather is starting to get colder. No consumption issues so far 1k into it.

I have another post going on the shocking oil consumption with my first ARX cleaning phase. The consensus is that I went into by bypass mode with the tiny oil filter and started burning oil there after. I'll have to wait to go through rinse and repeat. So we will wait and see. At least I won't wait too long. The miles pile up. Never thoght I'd be happy about that. I am becoming one of you. Oh no!!
