Probably a phosphate-ester based oil like Skydrol aircraft hydraulic fluid.

Is that your next OCI?

You seem convinced no matter what and thats you business but posting 8 year 80K as the limit for changing is just plain wrong.

Rule for thumb for seals from an old oil supplier was less that 8 years old or less than 80000 miles are less likely to weep or leak.

It is a guide only and you right that it is my opinion and when I see posters encouraging the owner of a 16 year old vehicle to go just swap an existing OCI regime that has worked for that long I will make it my business to post my view point.

For me it is an No Brain-er reduce the risk of weeps or leaks here.

I have read of some posters on this site swapping over to SYN oils from DINO oils because of recommendations such as these and their vehicles developing leaks shortly afterwards.

In my view the OP has done well without BITOG and should just keep going as there are no additional benefits to be achieved to the OP based on the information posted to date.

I have said and done my bit here, its up to the OP to do what he or she believes.

There is a possibility (not a probability) that the new oil will clean things up and cause the oil filter to fill up. Keep an eye on consumption, and if you notice a somewhat suddent increase after a few thousand miles, change the oil filter and top off. You might want to change the first batch after 5,000 miles or so anyhow.

Interesting.

I've just done a search and I can't find anyone using this stuff for an oci,if you plan on using it please for the benefit of the forum do a used oil analysis and post it.

Can't see difference between group ll and lll in terms of gasket compatibility. They are both the same(similar) chemically.Use of PAO/Ester could start leaks in old engine.
