Here's a lucky thread (like your Aunt) where a Civic got hit by a Super Duty. Note that this is a dually, with a lower ride-height than an Excursion.

Look at the damage on the car, then look at the truck. The truck is fixable!! And this was an 80mph impact..... (drunk driver, horrible!!!!)

Yup... That was my aunts car, only the driver side door didn't come off, and the damage was more in between the two doors and no so much the wheel area. Her's was also the body style before this one...

The roof was crushed down somewhat from rolling and landing on the roof.

A "safe" small car is relative to what you are hitting or what hits you.

Yup, that is the older body-style F-150. Check the '04+.

Does not apply to the 'duty though, which is completely different.

I don't know what hit the SuperDuty above, I got it through Google Images search and I can't see the website it came from properly...

#1 the #1 thing to improve safety is to become a better driver. You are the biggest factor. Avoidance is key. Yea, I know sometimes you are a sitting duck, but that's just luck.

#2 SUVs and trucks are only safer when hitting things that have energy to give up. i.e. smaller cars and other lower mass objects. All that weight is now against you when you are upside down, since they down handle nearly as well as a car.

#3 F-350 into another F-350 is really ugly. So it is all relative.
