You are saying you think "more Z and Phosphorous" define a better oil? If that were true, all any oil manufacturer would have to do is add those elements and BOOM...they'd be great. Some people have the same opinion about "Moly". You are looking at individual trees and ignoring the forest.Wow guys look at that. It is thin but has more Zinc and Phosphorus, even more than ESP 0W-30
Nary a one.So many approvals
That’s been discussed ad nauseam here. Is that why you brought it up again?Maybe they did a slight change in the engines that were sent to the US
So why would it not be after you get your engine cleaned out with VRP?Really solidifies for me that ESP 0w-30 would be my choice if VRP did not exist.
Yes, if you put ESP 0W30, you always risk the engine disintegrating and throwing debris into the passenger compartment. If you decide that, make sure you and your passengers have bulletproof vests and helmets.ESP is great, but AFE is thinner and better for nervous me trying a 0W-30 on my lil Jeep. It is the most 5W-30-like 0W-30 I have seen, others are so crazy thick.
In the backyard shade tree chemist class. She plans to mix the 0W-20 with 0W-30 1/2 and 1/2 and create her perfect 0W-25.Really? Where the heck is Goldilocks when you need her?

Does that LR have electric water pump or thermostat?I towed a Range Rover L322 with a Range Rover L322 for 900 miles at 70mph, some of it in the mountains, in an engine running M1 ESP 0W-20 and it didn't blow up. But I assume it is junk now. RIP.
It actually still runs great. I'm amazed at the heat management they've put into place. It was 95F out, towing 7000+lbs at 70mph, up and down mountains and hills... and coolant and oil were both very a steady 200-205F. The engine was working, too, downshifting and running 3-4-5K RPM when going up grades.
I've contemplated going to something thicker but I see no real reason to, RR/Jaguar spec 0W-20 for these motors everywhere in the world and even in their track focused cars with the same motor.

Nope, pretty boring setup, belt driven water pump and crazy packaged but fairly standard thermostat.Does that LR have electric water pump or thermostat?
Than must be good sized oil cooler with decent sump.Nope, pretty boring setup, belt driven water pump and crazy packaged but fairly standard thermostat.
Definitely a good sized oil cooler, basically sits in the valley between the heads. Eight quart sump, not huge but not small. With a whole mess of hoses and plastic bits (yay) to fail in time.Than must be good sized oil cooler with decent sump.
Hmm, I would expect radiator type cooler. So the went oversized exchanger probably to speed up oil warming up bcs. mpg.Definitely a good sized oil cooler, basically sits in the valley between the heads.
