Getting rid of a car that is beyond done (98 Audi A6 2.8) as a parts car here in Winnipeg. Car still runs, but with a noisier sounding engine. Would need a front suspension overhaul since it doesn't feel good anymore.

WHen I go on my local kijiji, I see older 90s Audis as part cars for around $1000 but is that reasonable?

Thanks for opinions!

Going onto CL? I'd start higher than than, and reduce the price until you start getting nibbles. Won't do anything other than waste time if you price too high; and you never know, someone might even give you top dollar.

scrap is like 13c/lb, so the parts should be worth a bit more than that, but someone would have to remove them... So not necessarily much more.

Just drop the price by $75 every few days until it moves. Winter is working against you.

Craigslist and similar services are hit-and-miss at best when selling used cars that need work or salvage cars. It can take weeks to sell at a decent price and may require more of your time and effort than you might think. Not to mention all the looky-loos and nutjobs that will eat up your time. At least that's been my experience.

Have you tried to find a German car salvage yard near Winnipeg ? A specialist yard like that will sometimes pay more, depending upon the condition of the parts that they know will sell, than a conventional yard. They'll have more Audi parts buyers and buyers that will pay more.

It might also be a good idea to contact Audi clubs and see what kind of feedback you get. They might see your car as a real gem versus a junkyard candidate.

I'm sure there are a few good Audi forums online with members that are near you that could guide you, too.

I'd leave craigslist and such as a least resort.

You'll get a lot of flakes on Kijiji . Hard call but if the car doesn't owe you anything and you want to get rid of it quick before it's buried in snow I would ask $600 as is and take the first decent offer from a serious buyer .

It's tough to move a used up A6. I'd say if it has the 5 speed manual you may find a buyer that wants it for a AT to MT conversion. If it's an auto, just get what you can from a boneyard and move it quickly.
