Her new bf viewed me buying it as a way of us still being connected (he must've missed the part where we had a kid together 😂) so he made her pay me for the car. I bought a set of Bilstein coilovers for the Mustang & gave her back the rest when they broke up. She's since totalled the BMW & 3 other cars

I'm no Atikovi but about 110. Many were for a few days or weeks. Before Cash for Clunkers flipping cars was fun and profitable.

Nice thread. 13 thus far

1991 Volvo 240
1998 Volvo C70 2.3 HPT
2004 Chevrolet Venture LS
2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
2000 Subaru Outback AWP - most expensive car that I owned. POS constantly nickle and dimed me, should’ve dumped much sooner
1982 Mercedes 300D
2011 Chevrolet Malibu 2LT
2012 Nissan Rogue SL AWD
2002 Infiniti QX4 - best vehicle ever. Too bad it rusted out at 200k miles. Someone still bought it off me!
2005 Toyota Corolla S
2009 Mercedes E350 4Matic
2011 Nissan Pathfinder Silver 4WD
1991 Volvo 940 SE

Side question for you guys who run your few cars into the dirt, how much money do you put into keeping it running and how do you decide it's truly dead?

If only I had been like that... but I had fun.(y)

We ran our Expedition until it was "unsafe" according to my mechanic buddy, the floor was getting punky on the passenger side. But, guy I sold it to seems to be still driving it so... 🤷‍♂️ We never really decided it was "dead", in fact, I've never had a car die (sent to the wreckers). We've always sold them, even if they were cars we drove for many years, like the Expedition. We sold it with 338,000Km on it (210,000 miles).

That said, I spent far more money than I should have on it in the last few years we had it. Dealer lost the key, had to get a new one programmed by a locksmith using the code (was the only key). Put all new brakes, including callipers on it (Motorcraft). Think I had a ball joint done? Can't remember on that one. Front U-joints replaced, had put new Michelin LTX M/S2's on it, but sold those to my dad and sold it with his nearly bald ones on it.

It wasn't an expensive vehicle to own though, other than gas and it needed very few repairs over the time we owned it. My M5 was far more "needy" in comparison.

I'd have to look at my records, but for the 260k+ Accord

Excluding multiple sets of tires, brake pads, rotors, bulbs, wipers, oil changes etc.

New Trans at 110k - Honda paid half of it (~$1500)
Front LCA's have been replaced (Moog) ($100)
Shocks Replaced (Koni) ($400)
2 - Timing Belt Jobs - 1 Done at the Honda Dealer, I did the other one which included a valve adjustment ($1100/$400)
PS Pump O-Ring ($2)
Reman Starter ($100)
2 - Sets of motor mounts (Cheap Ebay mounts, about $50-60 a set)
1 - Window regulator (Drivers rear of all things) ($50)
Drivers Side CV Axle (GSP) ($60)

That's all I can come up with off the top of my head.

The car looks rough, but the vast majority of it is all original.

Took us awhile, but we finally found the 2 vehicles that fit our life really well. Out of those, the Toyota overheated once and destroyed the engine, the Durango was a bit of a money pit… the rest were great just didn’t fit our lives.

Edit: I guess I should include my wife’s Buick she bought before we were married. So technically I’ve owned 3 cars.

What are you even doing here? You should be on the knitting and crochet forum.
