Ok being BITOGer I really want to change my oil but at the same time kinda wanna stretch the oci.

This is in a ram 1500 w/ 5.7 hemi. Currently has about 4k on the oil and the napa platinum (2nd oci) has about 8k miles on it. The edge was the sale edge from AAP awhile back. turns out they had some older stock mixed with newer stock. so the oil is half the old edge and the other half is the edge w/ titanium.

about 1/3 of my mileage is towing, and I'm a big idler so I would guess around 10 hrs idling so far.

I'll probably get a UOA done when it is drained also for kicks.

The one thing I'm worried about is the 20 trying to fall out of grade. Being a thick oil guy maybe I'm just paranoid. Recommended OCI is 3k severe, 6k normal.

Just want to see what you guys think.. everyone loves to get their 2 cents in

That is some fantastic oil, but with the towing and idling your use does lean toward the severe use schedule as well. Maybe not a good candidate for longer drains.

I agree I'd want at least a sample at 5k if you don't change it then and see how it's holding up to your use.

Why 0W-20 in an 8 yr old truck towing in Texas? I would change it now and put in some 5w30 or 10W-40 - I guess I'm old school.

specs 5w-20

there are 2 different edge in usa

one is gold and one is black.

they dont replace each other.

since the truck is so new I wouldnt extend out yet.

I read your other post too, and I have to say, towing 5k lbs at 75mph uphill in the Texas heat is pretty much the definition of severe service IMO... Change the oil now. If you're dead-set on using xW-20, opt for the thickest, highest HTHS xW-20 available. One with lots of Moly.
