I have been trying different oils in my 2020 Kia Rio since I bought it in May. I have a 90 mile round trip commute and I work 6 days a week and 1 weekend a month so I get 3 days off a month. I have been trying PUP, Edge EP, Mobil 1 EP and Motorcraft so far for full 5k OICs. I only have about 3 days with the Havoline in the sump but it doesn't seem any worse than the other major brands I've tried. It's by far the cheapest oil I have tried.

Having said all that, I just got a 2025 Ram with the 3.0 Hurricane to replace my Frontier. Can anyone talk me out of using this oil in both vehicles?

It meets Dexos 1 Gen 3, Ford and Chrysler specs and it's about as cheap as Super Tech. 25% better sludge protection is better than Royal Purple's advertised 14% and Mobil 1s advertised 20%. Puts it on par with Valvoline not R&P but Valvoline sold to middle east company so Havoline is American. With my highway driving I'm not as concerned about wear as I would be before I moved far from work. I do run 75mph so my RPM is usually about 3k +/- 500

Nobody here can tell you exactly how the oil will perform. If it meets the OEM spec then it will be fine for OEM intervals period. You need to do a oil sample and create your own data. Halvoline has been around for a long time. Even though it’s not as popular I don’t really hear any negatives about it. I’m assuming your Kia is close to or passed drivetrain warranty. In your scenario with those commutes. I’d be willing to bet you could do 7.5-10k mile OCI and get good lab results. With limited time off it mean less time spent maintaining. Once again an oil sample can confirm this. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive to 7.5k and sample. You new RAM will need OEM intervals which I believe is a Oil life monitor just follow that. Pretty much any cheap synthetic at Walmart can run the typical oem intervals 5-10k without any issues.

I'm running Havoline Lifelong Full Synthetic 0w20 in our 2022.5 Silverado with zero issues. I plan to use it for as long as I can purchase it.

Havoline seems like a solid choice and comes at a great price. However, with your vehicles, driving style, and oci length, even the cheapest full syns like super tech or Kirkland would fit the bill.

Havoline pro-ds is their higher end oil,the lifelong is a bit lower tier,,the pro-ds is a real good oil ,but a bit hard to find in 5 qt jugs and quarts.

I use it in my sons Kia Rio all the time. Probably half of his oil changes were with Havoline. I have Supertech in it now, but have a jug of the Havoline for the next one. Meets all the specs. Use it with confidence.

With that many miles a month/year maybe consider Amsoil or HPL and a uoa and see what your intervals can be. Gotta be better than roughly every 3 months like now

Kia says to change it between 3750 and 7500 miles. Extreme temps qualify for severe service. Nebraska gets as cold as -45 in the winter and as hot as 115 in the summer so I just decided to do 5k because it's easy to remember. It usually works out to about an oil change every 2 months.

Havoline is 16 cents per quart more than super tech but in 6 quart boxes, 2 makes 3 oil changes so I like that aspect of it. According for the video on Ford Boss Me YT Channel it looks like Havoline has the same add pack as Valvoline Extended Protection

I fully understand that. Was just wondering if someone could come up with a reason or two that would talk me out of what I was thinking. This is my first time with Havoline but I actually kinda like it.

I ran Chevron Supreme for 6000-6500 miles and uoa was fine. Think any oil will suffice. You shouldn’t have any problems with the Havoline

I'm considering switching to this oil for my next OCI and I've been wondering why it isn't more popular here. The six quart box is a great value and seems like it would attract the same crowd here that typical goes for Supertech or Quaker State.

I'm privileged to have the opportunity to purchase at a Oil wholesaler and I keep ANY Chevron and Valvoline products in my personal stash!!! ;)

"Havoline is da good sh$$" only for the boss mans personal use lol ;)

1) Ford Boss Me YT videos should be considered entertainment only.
2) How was he able to determine that?
3) A lot of oils are going to appear similar on paper if they meet the same certs and specs. That is kinda what standards are suppose to do.

The VOA comparison between Valvoline EP and Havoline look like the same add pack within the error rate of BS reports.
