How long have you been a member?

Since 2020. I visited a few times before that when the site was still in the old format and then they switched to this and I liked it pretty well so I joined. I was also very bored during that time because work was slow because of the events at that time so I needed another automotive forum to be on with Garage Journal so here I am. I really enjoy it here. Hard to believe it’s been 5 years. Time really does fly.

Thought you would have 50,000+ posts by now;)

I was originally #113 or 117 before the crash. Can't remember what I ate for breakfast, so don't know which. Didn't rejoin until December of 02. There have been some really swell folks that have come and gone since, and I've learned several lifetime's worth of information here over the years. Gotta say, @pscholte was my kindred spirit as we both shared this weird obsession with GC (German Castrol) 😁.

I miss his wit! I hope he’s doing ok and decides to pop back and say hello

MyISAM tables didn't have row level locking. BITOG would stall when someone did a big query. We have used InnoDB tables for about a decade, which have row level locking, are much more robust, and more great features. Modern MySQL is ACID compliant and incredibly reliable. The switch to InnoDB was absolutely necessary because our database is very large now. I remember converting the tables from MyISAM to InnoDB on the live database, that was some serious puckering.

I have no idea what you said above, but thanks for your work in helping BITOG to be one of the better automotive sites on social media.

I joined based on a referral from the folks at Saabnet.com

And I was fortunate enough to enjoy that Green Elixir.

I was here before the AutoRX wars, then got disgusted and left for many years. I think a lot of folks are like that, the date shown on the avatar is a resign.
Let us know your previous username - we can combine the accounts, and let your “war record” be combined with the “new you”. 😎

Longer than most, newer than some.

I know I have more posts than it says I do.
