Let's quit looking to blame the owner here. If he had damaged the paint, they wouldn't have covered it under warranty in the first place.

What's the diff in changing the hood and changing the wheels and tires? Maybe he likes CF hoods?
 
I actually got a GREAT deal on a nice VIS hood. It cost less than repainting the old hood! It went thru 9 months or so and actually got NO chips. Another advantage to buying another hood was being able to swap the old one back on for winters. I still have the old one on from winter on and will probally get it re-done with the fender(s).

I wish I had some pics, the black and red is pretty hot and the red fenders wrap down the front of the car, it is actually pretty fat.
 
You got to be kidding I have seen some paint work from GM and they really have issues in quality....Plus still have the problem of the clear coat comming off in a few years....

This is great. About 10 years ago a woman I worked with bought a new Acura. With good intentions I said to her something like "best of luck with it, Honda makes great cars". She responded, "it is not a Honda, it is an Acura". I couldn't let it go so I pointed out that Acura is a Honda brand and that in most parts of the world they are branded as Hondas. She still didn't believe me (and was getting very angry) so I told her to look at her car windows. At that time Acura windows were branded with the Honda name (I think some parts under the hood were as well). She never brought it up again (and never really spoke to me again).
 
Some people can't seperate an "insult" to their possessions from an insult upon themselves.

Amen. This is how alot of GM haters get started - from the lousy dealerships and then they blame GM for it. Honda didn't do this to the OP - the dealership did. Dealers (or stealers) are independently owned private businesses. That's why I hate hearing some of these GM bashers raising [censored] when, really, it's the dealers that have the blame in many cases.

The part about the story that amuses me is that somebody would spend a bunch of money on a car apparently without knowing who made it, and then take it as an insult that it was made by a company that in fact makes a variety of different classes of cars. If the manufacturer wasn't "important" enough to even identify before buying the car, then why should it make a difference after the fact?

Theres more important things in life to worry about than a hood.


Not a valid comparison. BMW/Mercedes/Audi vs Acura/Lexus/Infiniti is more like it. Depends on what you mean by quality. Better materials for a car that cost 2x times as much is a given. As far as reliability, durability and value, Honda wins. Pride in ownership depends on individual preferences.

I have not had these experiences. My Odyssey has 109k miles over 7 years and the paint looks fantastic. My Accord has 71K miles and also looks great. Previous 11 year old Civic with 130k miles had very few paint chips on the hood and the car looked great. I live in NJ and frequently drive the NJ Turnpike, PA Turnpike, 78, 80 and 287.

The low profile and small grills of Hondas may make them more prone to rocks hitting the hood then other brands. One strange thing is that I am on my 3rd windshield with the Accord. I have only had to replace 1 windshield on all the other cars I have owned. Maybe it is bad luck, or maybe the shape/profile of the front of the car has something to do with it.
 
I own a Honda Fit, paint is thin and chips easily ,carpeting reminds of trunk padding and any wear creates a hole. It's a inexpensive car I know, lets see how it wears over time.
 
I have the rubber mats from my RSX (!) and usually throw a carpet sample over them in the winter, to absorb snow and salt and cocaine power. I use them only for one season and toss them out. I got a nice Persian-style red one as a replacement.

One thing you don't see is the cool 3-section top of the dash. The sections fit perfectly and are in-line. Also missing is the door panels, with the decent "wood" insert, the "leather" and two-tone plastic. I really think it's as "nice" as a car needs to be.

btw- the single center volume knob is cool too. I actully like my interior better than the TSX, that has a classic dual set-up for the knobs.
