Yes they make hand held spectrometer to read color. yelow to blue red to green light to dark. Spectrometers can read in differnt lights, daylight, northern light, incandesant, florescent. In this case could be important if the color is metameric, some i think might refer to this as color flop.

Actually, if its a metallic of any kind, its almost impossible to match as the flake size AND concentration would have to be perfect.
White is the easiest color to match. Any non metallic color is easy as it has a set formula to make and mix.
My only question is why would you have a carbon fiber hood on ANY Accord let alone a relatively new '07? Im playing devils advocate here so bear with me. If I were the dealership, I would look at your car and say Hmmmpph.. he doesn't care what his car
looks like if he is willing to put that hood on there.

Original paint is covered on the BTB warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, depends on the manufacturer of the car. This would cover all factory installed and factory painted parts. Chips are considered a road hazard, and not covered, fading, peeling, cracking, or anything like that would be covered. After market or dealer installed items would not be covered under a factory warranty, the dealer would have to cover them, and set the time/mileage limits. Acid rain would be an area of gray, and probably up for debate, unless the car came to the dealership damaged from Acid rain. At that time you'd have to refuse delivery of the car.
I filed a claim with $1200 damages two weeks ago. Dealer called and asked for "an opportunity to repaint the car" (the fender). I declined, saying the time to correct the bad job was when I politely asked for that, not now. I said too that I don't think they have the skill to do it right, and I want my shop to do the work. I have a good case and will go with it.
My body guy said they will probally settle rather than send a lawyer to court. the estimate is so high because the old paint needs to be stripped off, etc...
As you know I have a hood to repaint as well and kind of want the other fender done too, so the car is nice again. I won't be adding on the winter hwy miles to blast the hood again.
Anyway, i just want it painted right already. It looks like a clown car. I'm leaving on my chipped red hood, even though I have a carbon hood for it.
Wish me luck, the hearing is the end of July, if anyone wants to come.

Your doing the right thing, last thing you want is the dealer painting it. From my experience they typically have a body guy come by the dealer on average 1 time a week(most dealerships). Of course its the lowest contract offer, quality is typically shoddy. If you know a reputable body guy then stick with him, otherwise you'll be driving around with a [censored] paint job.
A few years back Dad had a couple cars painted at a local shop that had a promo for $99 or $199, or something like that. They both had issues (runs, thin spots, orange peel). He brought them in 3-4 times each to be fixed, then got estimates to strip the paint and redo it at a "real" shop.
They sent their lawyer into court, and he had not been prepped on this particular case. So he started in explaining to the judge how they would be happy to be fix the problem. All Dad needed to do was bring it in, etc. Dad (representing himself), let the guy go on a while. Honda is not screwing you, the dealer sent you to a shop that did not do a good job matching the paint. Even the best shops with the best equipment will not get the paint 100% pefect. At the very least, the shop should have offered to repaint the bumper.

We don't know this is a Honda paint issue. Was it there when the car was purchased? Was there damage during transit? Where/how was the car stored? There are a bunch of reasons why there can be paint issues.
Did the OP contact Honda directly or go to the dealer? Was Honda involved in any of this prior to the poor paint job? Did Honda re-paint the bumper? Did Honda refuse to honor the warranty claim? How did Honda screw the OP?
I am not defending Honda, maybe it was a lousy paint job. However, it sounds to me like in this case the dealer screwed the customer.

My wife has a 2006 Accord and its a decent car for the money, pretty much basic transportation from point A to point B.
Theres more important things in life to worry about than a hood.

To clarify: The main issue now is the fact the repainted fender does not match. texture, colour and it's now too thickly applied. I am suing the dealer's bodyshop. Honda paid them for a re-paint because the fender was peeling from behind the light.

It obviously is botched. The reason I bought a NEW car was so it looked good and uniform.I say it's a high standard when doing warranty work on someone's new car.
Otherwise, the paint chips easily. My hood got blasted in no time, so I bought a CF hood for it, not installed at this time.
I plan on getting the hod re-sprayed and both fenders so they are clean and chip-resistant.

Filling the used car lot with the products of a brand's self-identified competitors is a great way to convince the unknowing that those who've owned these other brands have decided that the new car brand's vehicles are better. It's a way of stroking a new car customers ego into believing that they've reached a higher level, having left those "inferior" brands behind.
BTW, I've got nothing against Lexus, I find it entertaining to compliment the owners on their new Toyotas.

Hondas have good powertrains but their paints are very thin and inferior to GM from my experience. They do chip easily, but for it to chip on a 2 year old car is a bit extreme. Do you drive behind semis a lot?
